I'm pretty sure I barely fit in this thread...maybe not. My longest layers are just past my shoulders, my bang area isn't there yet though - my last haircut (in Feb) was a shag so I have lots and lots of layers to grow.

Soooooooo close! I'm still having some super flippy ends, though!

I'm a little absent but still growing and taking care of my hair. Relaxed my bangs (with an overtime process/not BKT), still thinking if I'll do the rest too.
Just so you know guys, I am still lurking here as I don't feel like graduating from the APL thread. My hair has been coasting at APL for a month now I think and I keep wondering whether I'd be better off trimming it back to UBL to get rid of damage. But then there would be literally no way I'd reach waist next summer.
Does anyone else here have a growing chart? I'm so obsessive I now have a growing chart with measurements taken every 15 days. It predicts my goal length sooner than next summer but I think it's because it doesn't realise I had a crazy growth spurt in may/june. Stupid algorithm!
Theodora your hair is lovely and I can't see any damage from here?! But then I can't feel the ends, and your hair grew so fast if you linger too long you'll be in the BSL to Waist club ;)
Only joking!
I'm here to have a little whoop moment, I had my first haircut in a year last month and lost some pieces that were 2 - 2 1/2 inches so was well above APL again. :( I have been using henna and indigo and not heatstyling or even brushing since, just fingercombing, sticking it in a peacock twist and ignoring it, but this morning I had to hairdry it before a job interview and combed it down... And the front was APL!! Woooot! I think the back is still short of APL as apparently I should be ringing bells for a living, but I'm so pleased after over 2 years of damage it's nearly there :)
Plus I measured my fringe to see how much growth I'd had since I stopped trimming them in January and they'd grown 5.6inches! Yay for MN :)
Ohh, i'm right back where i started guys, as of today i'm back to SL after being about 1/2inch from APL...why? If you didn't see my thread the other day i made a silly mistake and bleached my hair which basically brought back loads of new damage to my then healthy-ish hair so i had decided in my thread post to actually just baby the damaged parts but today i just thought i can't deal with the damage just to have the length so my mum cut it for me (she's a trained hairdresser) so that saved me loads of money :) She normally won't cut it because i'm very fussy/picky when it comes to my hair lol.
Anyways still got some damage to my top layer of hair but on the whole it's looking much much better Yay! Also i now have hair that is almost all the same length rather than really wierd uneven layers (that the hairdresser gave me and i had't asked for!) it took me a less than a year to grow from last august a chin length cut to nearly APL so hopefully from SL to APL it won't take too long hehe.
Hair is just past the APL line on me, when not straightened it just brushes the line, so in a month things should be peachy!

Woot woot wooot!!! I'm joining in your woop chorus as I think you deserve it! Woooooopity woop!
That's some impressive progress, plus go you for being able to ignore it (and no heat styling!). I wish I could ignore my hair instead of staring at it intently all the time...
Thanks for the compliment by the way, my hair looks deceptively healthy because it's mostly damage on one single chunk near my right ear. The right side of my hair is just so thin and raggedy, with split ends from roots to ends and I can't figure out why...
But I did a henna/cassia/amla gloss yesterday and it feels better now.
At last! I always wear my hair in braids or buns so must of the time I’m measuring after taking my hair down i.e., slightly wavy. Today I washed my hair and let it dry normally. And it ends up its a tad past APL.
So its time for goodbyes. I’ll see you over in the APL to BSL before you know it.

Congratulations Kathie! I've enjoyed watching your progress, hopefully I'll join you in the next thread by the end of the year :)
I dreamt last night I was at APL, I did wake up disappointed :p
Congrats Kathie! Can't wait to join you in the APL to BSL thread! Hope you enjoyed your time with us, and that you'll come back to this thread for some tea and biscuit whenever you feel like it ;).
Awwwww!!!! Luckyyyyyy!!!!
Congrats Kathie. Your hair looks amazing! It's gonna getting more and more gorgeous as it gets longer and longer :o
Hope to see you on the APL to BSL thread in a few months :blossom:
Thanks so much Theodora :)
And congratulations Kathie! Your hair is looking gorgeous :)
Hope to see you two over on the APL-BSL thread soon :)
I've come to join you all in growing from shoulder to APL. Never really had long hair before, so somehow even this length seems long. I think I'm just an inch or two away from APL, but I'll have to double check in three weeks when I get my macbook back so I can take some back view pictures.
A few months ago I decided to cut off my old perm that had been growing out. I was at bsl and had to cut it off to shoulder length. It was nice to get a healthy cut though and the bottom half of my hair was 4 shades lighter from all the chemicals. YUCK! I really miss my long hair and can't wait to hit apl again.
My hair is currently shoulder length, my next goal is APL and then eventually beyond that. Just got a trim last week to get rid of some past hair coloring damage but I'm still at this shoulder length so I will be happy when I get some more length in. Wish me luck! :P
wow! my hair has grown!! before i went on holiday i was feelin a bit down cos it hadn't been growing that fast but when i got home from 2 weeks holiday i had noticed growth!!! YAY!! it looks roughly 1-1.5 inches till i get to APL ! :). However im having to baby it right now cos i've been in chlorine pools, the sea and going on the most insane rides at the theme park! :cheese: :eyebrows:
I cant wait to get to APL, feels like I been at shoulder forever. I do have some some layers that are shorter I guess thats why its taking a bit... **sighs** grow hair grow... I hope you all get there soon
*sigh* I envy you all who're close or at APL already! (Congrats, by the way! You all look georgeous with your hair! :blossom:)
I've started taking the first pic of my length in June and somehow I still feel as if nothing [much?] has changed!? Does anyone else feel like that? Am I just too impatient? I feel as if it's the same concept like "A watched pot doesn't boil" ; now that I focus on the length, I can't see any progress..
I guess I'd only take pics every 3 months or so maybe instead of monthly..
I know, I'd technically need a trim as my ends are all uneven (the outer parts are a smidge longer than the middle part:confused:) but I'm waiting until at least end of the year. I'm afraid a hair dresser would cut off too much -like they always tend to do...
Anyway.. sorry if I sound like a downer.. I constantly dream of nice, long hair in mid back length and am always sad to wake up and realize I'm still sooo far away from that length!..
Oh well.. eventually I'll get there, right? *think positive*
Goodluck everyone!
I have 2 or 3 inches to go until APL, though I also have some layers that I want to grow out, the shortest of which are at chin length :/
GOD i hate layers... ok had to say that lol
Same here slo2gro!
Do any of you S & D? I'm not sure whether it's worth doing at this length, though I do have a few split ends as my hair is a bit damaged. I just want to try and avoid getting a trim too soon!
I do S n D as much as I can anyhow. I also do or did for the first time a micro trim self one n turned out ok, my hair feels better for it. When im sitting around I look for splits n shoot them down.
I'm gonna try to keep my hair in updos for about 70-80% of the time from now on, since my ends are breaking. I ALWAYS wear my hair down normally, but it's time for a change. Think I'm gonna sport the sockbun, and I will try to work out some things with hairsticks. I wanna be APL!
i wear my hair in a peacock twist most of the time. I want APL TOO lol
My mom is stealing my hairsticks! Looks good on her. :D
i ordered some sticks and a lil fork off etsy
I hear ya, Mom! The turning point for many of us is when we can put it up. That has made me sooo much less crazy, now that I can get it up and off me - out of sight, out of mind! I put mine up every single day during summer, I just can't stand to have my hair on my neck like a hot, sticky blanket. By the time the weather cools down and I have any desire to wear my hair down (mid to late September at the earliest here), I'm gonna be shocked and surprised at how long mine has gotten! :cheese:
I am graduating from the super shorties to shoulder to APL!
My hair is touching shoulder, the longest lengths, anyway.
As far as the S&D question, I am noticing velcro ends so have broken out the coconut oil and it does the trick. As soon as it gets a little longer I will start using catnip soaks again.
Happy to join the club!
Oh, and I passed a mile stone - I can put my hair up in a tiny french twist. I need a small flexi 8 but even a small may be too much at this point. I will wait a month or so and see if I have more hair to up up.
I'm soooo close to APL.
I would probably already be there, but I got a trim in June because my layers were growing out uneven. As always, I told the hairdresser to take off as little as possible, but she probably took off close to an inch.
It's funny; I've been a shortie for so long - I only started growing out my hair because the updo I want for my wedding in October wouldn't work with my short layers....but now I'm considering trying to grow for BSL. I'd always thought my thin, fine hair couldn't do it, but I've seen so much beautiful hair on this forum.
It seems possible. :)
