Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So in the back, my hair is most certainly well past shoulder. My "face framing layers" are just at shoulder and are almost long enough to stay behind my shoulders when I brush it back there. With my curls, I can relate to your struggle! I don't know if my curl pattern tightens or not, but any growth is just invisible! When my hair is SOAKING wet, it's ALMOST at APL. But I won't count it until my curls get there :).

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Crikey alabaster, that's amazing growth. Looks healthy too. I bought a tube months ago and haven't had the courage to use it yet. Hmmm might go lurk that thread awhile.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm at shoulder right now and I think APL is my goal, we'll see when I get there. I'm guessing it will take me about 6 months to get there. I really like the way my hair is cut right now so I'm crossing my fingers that I can just let it grow and I will continue to love the cut and not feel compelled to get in for a trim between now and APL.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Are you doing hair stuff at work? Naughty naughty! : P
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm at shoulder, I cut to maintain and then re-grow, just for the fun of it. I'm on the long side of shoulder, just below collarbone. Weee. It should take me three months to get to APL.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
im growing my hair long again too..
3 months ago my hair was reaching the mid of my back, then I chopped it off to touching my shoulder. (Chopped my hair as I did lots of chemical treatments such as perming and rebonding to my hair, missed the softness in my hair so i decided to regrow them)
I'm happy that my hair has grown below the shoulder length, awaiting for end of year as I believe my hair will reach the armpit area soon. yippie...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I find it harder to have good second day hair when it's at this length... I find that post shower I'm a solid 3a/2c, then after sleeping on it i'm more of a 2a/2b then once it gets oily, I swear I'm a 1c! Talk about wacky hair. When it's APL, my 2nd day hair is more 2c, then once it gets oily it goes 2a/2b.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm still here... :D I haven't measured in a bit...also, took a break from MN. My bald patches are filling in nicely.
So.....anyone figured out any hair growth spells? ;)
:D

Ditto! Right now there are wurlies flying all over the place, and some of them are so short they just kind of stick out awkwardly. I can't wait to see what my hair does as it gets longer.. I don't think I've ever had is past APL, and that was when I was 6 (maybe?) years old! :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I hit such a stall! Summer is horrible for me and hair growth... thank goodness fall is on its way. I need to post more pictures soon, but I like to wait until I have a super-straight hair day. Maximum length and all that :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hey guys! Easy updo I did today! Pencil Bun! My hair is probably an inch below shoulder when it's dry and I was able to do this bun, but I used 3 fingers instead of my whole left hand (watch the video and you'll understand what I mean)
Quick and easy! :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I am close to BSL and it will take me two years to get to waist length with trims.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
wow nice growth alabaster!
My hair was APL a week ago, but I really needed a trim! So, I'm between SL and APL now . The hairdresser didn't cut too much, but added some layers without asking :( . Next time I'll tell her to only trim my ends without adding layers. The shorter one is half an inch above my shoulders so it's not that bad..

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My hair is slowly trudging along, it's nice and healthy as usual but again I haven't the time for manic hair care but it still looks as shiny as ever. No splits. I just trimmed my bangs to even things out and they're lookin' spiffy.
My hair is losing it's curl like crazy though. I went from 2c to straight up 1c/2a. Hmmm...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Im about an inch or 2 below shoulder, think its grown a tiny fraction in the last few weeks. I can now get it into a bun! Its a kinda tiny mini bun but a bun all the same :D
I just have to tie it in a pony and then twist into a bun and use another elastic (no metal) to hld it in place. I do get a couple of strays where i have short layers and the front of my hair hangs out, but i like it, i feel a bit like a ballerina! I have no idea what type of bun it is though.
I guess the easier it get and the more strands that i manage to get to stayr in the bun, the longer and thicker its getting :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So since I've done my first henna, it has relaxed my curl a little bit, and my hair looks longer because I don't lose as much length when it dries. I'm such a cheater :p

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Mine just hit one of my freckles, so I'm pretty happy. It's hard to see growth at SL because there's really no good way to judge length, but I've got a pair of freckles a bit above APL, and my hair reaches the first of the two now. So that means... two inches or so to go, I think. My hair seems to like summer, or at least whatever moderates my growth rate does.

Kaileida my hair stalls in Summer too! So unfair, I hope it is just saving energy for a big September growth spurt like last year....
To everyone else, Hi! I am still here and will be for a while. I am past collarbone now but 4 inches to go. Long old journey.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Count me in! I've been growing for almost a year and am still not quite there. I imagine it will be a few more months. Luckily, at this length my hair behaves pretty well (no annoying flips) so I'm not completely obsessed with getting it longer. That said, I'm still avoiding trims.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I haven't taken a picture yet, but I suspect from twisting around at the mirror that my longest strands are at or very close to APL. Unfortunately, I am getting a 2-inch trim tomorrow, so I'm still certainly in this group...probably until January at the earliest.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I think Im at CAN I CALL THIS APL length, but some days it doesnt look so close as it does on other days

WOW, so glad to see I'm not the only one that stalls during the summer! My hair really hasn't grown at all this summer. But fall is quickly approaching....:eyebrows:....which tends to be when my hair grows the fastest!!
I have recently started using Monistat again (mostly for bangs) to get rid of the side swept bangs I had cut in early June. It will be interesting to see if that stimulates the overall length as well.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I am still plodding along... Have another inch of growth..... 1 more to go! Dont plan to trim till BSL or Jan 1st which hopefully will be around the same time. I am actually wondering wether BSL means the TOP or the BOTTOM of the strap....I think I will look into that when I get there for now.....I am creeeeeeping along to APL.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
730 days until waist length!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I need this! I'm now at the longest I have every been. Don't feel like I'm a super shorty now, but so much to go.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm at shoulder right now, can't wait for APL. For me this length is annoying, with limited styling options and all. I live in Texas, so I like to have it off my neck in the summer and start itching to chop around this length. I get so tired of choosing between sweaty neck and ponystump with 1/4 of my hair hanging out of it.

Hello everyone who is new to this thread.

We all sympathize, believe me. Hang in there a few more months and you'll be able to do a real ponytail, then some updos. You won't have to wait for APL to do that (in most cases), so it can be a nice distraction while it grows.
At that stage, I found a wide cloth headband slipped back on my head slightly kept most of my hair off my neck and face, with or without ponystump. Not the most elegant of styles, but it worked.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I just measured and it's 21 inches. About how long is APL? I know that it's different for everyone but I would like to have a general idea.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Stupid question, I know, but what is APL?

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm now at 21" and have ~2 more inches to go to APL. I need to stop getting so many trims but these former-pixie layers are awful.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have just graduated from the "shorties" thread and I "just now" found this thread! I started out here at TLHC with a very short pixie. My hair is now long enough to put up (YIPPEE!) although I am not sure what length it is "officially." Arm Pit Length is my next stop on the way to my goal of waist. Here is my length photo for August.......I am so happy to have found this thread!
