Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Andthetalltrees, that looks like shoulder to me, and super shiny.
Shoulder length hair can be a fun step on the growing journey, all bouncy and light and versatile. I kind of miss it sometimes.
Welcome, Fragment and Gothic, too. It's a good bunch here.
Fingers crossed that my almost at armpit pictures show up this time:

Wow, you are so close to APL it's almost painful! Keep on growing. :) I love the red. I had my hair almost exactly your color for a while but it faded to a weird mauve. Crummy brand of hair dye was the culprit.

That's very pretty.

Thanks much, and you've got it right; so close to APL that it hurts. I think once I get over that hump, the temptation to cut back will lessen, as long as the hemline stays thick. I love the red, too. I use Manic Panic Vampire Red, and am very happy with it. I'm sorry yours faded. What brand were you using?
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Unzadi I think you'll be APL in the next month or two! Thank you as well, I've never gotten the compliment it was shiny before! Haha
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm getting there, if I keep up my growth rate I'm hoping I'll be there by April-ish.
Never mind the little blue marks and huge picture, I'm still trying to figure this forum thing out. heheh.

Thank you. I am used to the shrinkage; it keeps my hair out of the way. I bet your hair looks lovely in a ponytail, though.

Can you do small trims along with protein treatments until you have eliminated the damage?

If you do buns they will look so nice. You should hit APL before the new year.

Nice body wave. You might hit by March. Keep posting; it will be old hat by spring.

Thank you a lot! I love ponytails, when I still had my long hair I did one with two dutch braids in the side and it looked amazing. Now even with the hair shorter I love to do them, it looks super cute.

I have some damage to grow out, too (although I got rid of most of it when I cut back from hip). For me, getting rid of damage is easier once I am able to put my whole hair up in a bun (and have it stay there^^) - it doesn't fly around, get tangled, rub on clothes etc. this way, so there will be not that much of new damage. And it is easier to drown it in oil that way :D Of course entle handling helps, too, and maybe, if one is ok with using it, something with cones for detangling/protection during handling/wearing it down
. I tried to eliminate damaging things* as much as possible while still trying not to do too much and from now on, it's mostly sticking to this, cutting only when necessary, and a whole lot of patience.
Sorry if this was not very helpful for you, but I tried to and express that I feel your situation and you are not alone with it. :)
*which can be surprisingly many of the "good" things: The Tangle Teezer, BBB and Henna all make my hair break and split like crazy, and rinsing with ACV is sort of "meh", but necessary because of the hard water here
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Allthetalltrees, and Nymphe, I think you're right. I suspect I'll hit APL in the next month or two. I can stick my hair up in a very sloppy bun and secure with beak clip or stick. Very nice being able to do buns at this length.
LaisB, shoulder length ponytails are super cute; pigtail braids, too.
WillOTree, that is some lovely wave and rich brown color. Keep growing, you'll get there before you know it
