I had spread the word at work by the way that I had major issues with allergies and I couldn't use traditional products. Yeah, that was a (white?) lie but I hoped "medical" reasons would make my look more acceptable
I'm giggling here - whatever works! I think I snapped on Sunday when we had visitors and my hair looked like a stringy greasy mess. Ugh.

I agree with you on vinegar rinses! My hairs love ACV rinses! I did do an egg wash one time and it sure did make my hair feel soft and supper bouncy. Only difference for me was that it made my hairs more poofy easily maybe because I used honey instead of castor oil.
Rowie, you are lucky that your hair absorbs the oil! I'd love to find a way to make mine soft and silky. Eggs have worked this one time, but apparently buildup soon happens and then the magic is gone!
Hair Do Wednesday - I'm all for it! And will post one with a stick tomorrrow :)

I figure that
once a month after TTT we could celebrate our test results by sharing styles we can explore through Hair toys. I hope many of you will join and continue this tradition in addition to Tuesday Treatment (Weekly), Towel Test Thursday (Once a month). If you just joined our thread and are just at shoulder length, please don't be intimidated, you can join us by showing us your "sock bun" or hair claws, barrettes or anything you do to wear your hair in a daily style. Have fun everyone, and I hope that we could all learn from one another! Let's begin.
My style(s) will work best for people who have iii thickness, preferably wurly/curly head peeps! People who have straight hair can modify the styles I offer by making it look more refined, sleek and not messy! A more tighter look is what I imagine straight haired folks can accomplish with my style. For this month I'll only demonstrate using a custom made fork I bought at:
Grahtoestudio I really recommend you check out Kimi's (owner) site, her toys has revolutionized the way I wear my hair. I now wear my hair up everyday! No more hair ties, claws for me!LOL
Preperation: (Only for this month i'll show you what I generally do before I put toys on my hair)

I generally will use extra virgin coconut oil heavily to thoroughly coat all my hairs. As you can see I have really thick coarse wurly/curly hairs and I really need to nourish them to get more definition and somewhat sleek look. This will also help nourish my fork and at the same time give the fork a good grip on my hairs.
Wow, look how much hair you have! Awesome shot. It's amazing what variety of updos you can do at your length. Must be all that hair :) I can just about use a stick.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Wow, Rowie!!! Your hair! <3
I'll join in as well, when I can, love the idea! :)
Plus, I realized today that I can do a pencil bun, so I'm eager to share ;)

BTW, have you ever tried a chelating shampoo? I love ACV but for more intense mineral removal chelating shampoos are the best. I've gotten really good results with Ion (from Sally's) swimmer's shampoo. I use it about once a month following my clarifying shampoo.
Treatment Tuesday: So yesterday I did my roots and followed with my usual routine of washing out the dye with a mild shampoo followed by Roux Porosity Control shampoo. Then I did Ion's Keratin Smoothing Masque. I used at least two HUGE handfuls to saturate my damp hair and left it on for 20 min. The masque didn't feel especially rich but it left my hair really silky feeling when I washed it out.
While my hair was still damp, I put in some argan oil and then I used Hairtrition Keratin Smoothing Leave in Treatment. This is a really weird product because it's guar gum based which means it feels more like a gel than a conditioner type product. The last time I used it I wasn't impressed with the results but this time, combining it with argan oil and the masque, I really like it. My hair is really smooth and shiny now. The baby hair frizz I usually get is soooo much less. I'm really loving this combo of products!
I'm leaving school on Thursday to go back home, and the water isn't so terrible there, but I'll definitely pick up some chelating shampoo on my way home. I'll need some for the summer and fall when I come back here anyway. :D

I figure once a month after the week of Towel Test Tuesday we can share hair toy styles to celebrate the growth of each TT test. I can't emphasize enough how this will be of great benefit to anyone who is addicted to hair toys or are now able to use them! The range of styles will be helpful in building techniques for beginners like me. I'll probably post mine soon because I will be gone on Wednesday (faculty meeting to attend). But I'll leave it to anyone who wants to join to post pictures from then on. Please feel free to post as many pics you like. As some of you know I'm a pic freak so I'm warning you all now. hehehe
Rowie, you have the most amazing hair here. It's not fair! I can't wait to see more of your pics!
For my Treatment Tuesday, I'm going to put on my comfy sweatpants and cuddle up studying calculus. Fuuuuunnnnn....

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi everyone! I've been reading this thread for little while now, but for some reason just never got around to posting. My hair is around shoulder length at the moment and I am hoping to grow it out to BSL or waist, which of course will take forever =/ I've been trying to take a picture of my hair, but it's so difficult to do without help from someone else >.<
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Just found a picture from a couple of days ago that shows where I am currently:) Sorry about the bad lighting!
