I cut solid inch about 7 weeks ago. It's utterly stupid. Another year soon gone and my hair is not getting any longer. I'm fed up.
I have been in that boat FOREVER and a million years! Ok, really, just my entire childhood through adulthood until a few years ago.
Do you get regular trims, or was it just that one time that you trimmed yourself with your Jaguar hair scissors? Also, what do you eat for your hair? Are you aware of any vitamin deficiencies you may have?

I just stopped by to complain about being at shoulder for 1000 years.... Looks like I'm not the only one. I've grown this out a few times so I should take comfort in knowing itll be shoulder length for eternity then magically be APL one random day. Lol

THIS IS SOOO TRUE! it has happened to me so many times, it feels and looks like SL like forever and suddenly one day its APL, wow the only way to believe it is with a picture lol. Seriously SL is frustrating!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I think I'll make a post about my mom here.
My mom is i and shoulder to APL. It is "her" length, and she sticks to it, has been sticking to it for about a few decades now. She's a light to mid-tone blonde (Syoss salonplex dye in 7-6) to more easily cover up the grays. It often is a mid-tone when she dyes but fades to a lighter color (to match the grays better) later on.
Before that she had hair past BSL and it was fiery red, always in a bee-butt bun with thicker bangs. People always asked her how she did it and really admired it (at work). They often came up to her floor to check it out.
I would post a picture, but she absolutely refuses (camera shy). Besides that she doesn't want to be on the net. ;)

LOL really? That's awesome yours grows, though! Mine is definitely past my shoulders now, but it's only past my shoulders because I stopped getting regular salon trims. I swear my hair grows 2 inches per year. It's supposed to grow 6?
I'm deficient in iron, though, so I'm sure that is factored into my hair's growth rate. I take iron pills, but my hair still grows slowly. :| And yet here I am on a Long Hair forum. :p

1.) That's awesome and impressive! It definitely sounds like interesting hair. But I would imagine all that attention gets old for her!

Hey, that's smart of her!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Ok, so I keep measuring how far I am from APL like... every day.
Obviously my hair isn't going to grow that fast, and I feel like it's a watched pot never boiling situation.
How do y'all deal with the urge to see how close you are? How long do you wait before measuring?

Wait at least... at least a month! And try to occupy yourself with something else. Measuring daily is pointless. Also if you don't measure like we measure here at LHC, then chances are you are off several times. We measure forehead hairline over the head to the back to the hem. This way the starting point is always even. If it is shorter however, it is a bit hard to take this measurement this way yourself... maybe it will teach you to wait. ;)

I started trying to measure from my part but I realized how silly that is, it's different literally every time.
I've been trying the over the head thing, but I think you're right, it's too short to really do properly. I get between 15-16.5 inches depending on the day.
I'm like... gonna put a note on my calendar a month from now and not let myself measure until then
Thanks!

I don't go to the hairdresser to get my hair cut, if that's what you mean. Like, ever. I was in a salon ... 4 times in my entire life.
I cut my hair myself. I just do it too often, that's it.
I eat normal, regular food, nothing specific. Drink nettle tea for hair growth. No deficiencies at all, I don't think so.
