Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Agava I think it’s much harder to be patient when you get close to a milestone. I’m sure that your hair looks and feels lovely after the trim. It doesn’t really matter if you’re half an inch above or below any given point, in the scheme of things! We’re on a long road here and we should do whatever we need to so that we enjoy the journey :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
You are so right. Thank you for your calming and reasonable response. I have to switch to another point of view when I get into that crisis, in order to enjoy what I have instead of complaining of what I do not have.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Feels so frustrating to be stuck with " just past shoulders " like for eternity:rolleyes:
I cut solid inch about 7 weeks ago. It's utterly stupid. Another year soon gone and my hair is not getting any longer. I'm fed up.
I'd throw away my scissors but it's a Jaguar and costed me quite a lot:ponder:
My rant. Back in the saddle;)

Every stage can feel stuck for eternity.
I believe that if you leave your hair for even only 3-4 months alone, you'll notice a lot of growth and you won't be stuck anymore.
What helped me a lot during neck length phase and SL, is calculation where would I be in 2,3,5..months.. Calculate yourself when your APL is going to happen if you don't trim and follow your own progress by taking a photo per month. I believe you can reach APL easily before the summer.

That's a good idea :o I'm planning to join the monthly picture project thread in January. I definitely need to leave my hair alone.
It's not easy to calculate where I will be in a few months. I can only guess. Taking that my hair is wavy and shrinkage is taking away some lenght.:D it will take some time. I can only hope for best!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hello! Been pointed to this thread from the New? board. Looking at growing my hair out from shoulder length. I'll probably take a while as the last haircut I had the hairdresser thinned the hair out and put in too many layers which I'm going to have to chop off at some stage :( .
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I think I'm at shoulder length? Or slightly above.
It's been about two weeks since my last haircut where I told my stylist I was going to start growing it out, and it's actually starting to feel long for me.its about to the base of my neck nearly brushing my shoulders.
My goal is to have it long enough for an updo by September.
I have no clue how fast my hair grows, I've ever paid attention before, but I'm happy to read all the tips and stories from people who have done it before. My goal is just to keep it really healthy as it grows out.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi everyone, I have been away for a while, I was about 2 inches away from APL but I went to the salon to trim a bit my fried ends and I ended up almost at chin length uggg!, my hair was healthy but I was so disappointed that I just took a break.
So here I am now, 3 months later and my hair is now a little bit past SL at the weird stage where it touches the shoulders and curls up.
So I will be here for a few months.

 I'm so sorry to hear you had such a crap salon experience! Luckily your hair has grown at a decent pace! Good luck for the future again :)

Sorry this happened to you. Similar thing happened to me in September, a hairstylist cut far too much off. I only wanted to even out the side that was too long as I had been growing out an asymmetrical bob. But she cut about 4” off and my haircut isn’t even, one side is still longer than the other. I’m planning to not cut again until waist length then I’ll trim my own hair.
