Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I used to rag curl the ends of my braid (like, the victorian type of rag curl) or use a paranda braided past my hair if I wanted to wear braidwaves the next day. I haven't tried it on shorter hair yet but I don't see why it wouldn't work!
My disc bun is no longer a spiky, unstable mess! I can get it super smooth and no bits poking out if I want to, but I did have to loosen it up a bit to get my oval stick in there comfortably (it's still rock solid, though). Nothing but the stick in there, no extra pins or anything. SO excited. I can wear whatever hair sticks I want now, so my instagram will probably just be a parade of disc buns with various adornments in the upcoming weeks. I also got a new ear piercing and my hair has been catching on it (the post is a bit long to account for swelling until I go in for a downsize next month), so I'll need to wear my hair up as much as possible anyway. My ends badly need a trim (at least, in the front where my bleach still is) but I'm just going to put it up and deal with it for the time being because I absolutely can't see myself giving up being able to do buns again, and right now any trim I do will take that from me.

Wispe your sticks are always soooo pretty and that one looks amazing against your hair color
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Thank you! It's an OutNumbered Novelties in dark pastel pearl, I also have a pair of sticks in this color. I will probably end up with a turned acrylic stick in this color eventually, I love it so much (:

Ooohh yay!!! The disc is such a good bun! I love that it's easy to do at shorter lengths. I've also learned a little trick with it! If your length:thickness ratio is still too much on the thickness for a disc bun, try first to make uneven halves, the thicker going around first! That's how I get it to work when my hair is clean and much too slippery.

I had me some good waves yesterday!

They're still around today, too! No pic for that though lol.

Ooooh I've never thought of trying uneven halves but that sounds so very clever, thank you! I haven't managed it on clean hair yet so I'm definitely giving that one a go next wash day.
And your waves are so pretty! I've been enjoying the first half of wash day when I feel like a lion with my poofy waves, but I still have a little tuft of hair thats like 4-6 inches shorter than the hem that likes to pop out in the back if I wear my waves, so I inevitably comb the crazy out once it's dry. Doesn't take all my waves away but sure takes a lot of them.

Thank you! I didn't comb or brush my hair at all after my second conditioner, and I was pleasantly surprised at how they turned out. And how well they've been sticking around, too.
Yeah it definitely helps! I also can only use forks with clean hair, as even with the uneven split it's wanting to unravel.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I tried it and it does work on fresh/wash day hair, which is awesome! So thanks again for that tip (:
When I air dry/do a 'hair typing' sort of air dry I don't touch it at all after conditioning, just let the water rinse everything out and drip dry after that. Well, towel around my shoulders but still, no scrunching or anything. I get some pretty awesome waveage that won't be completely brushed out, but I do struggle with the canopy and temple area frizzing up, so I usually air-dry to 95% dry then finger comb it to at least keep /some/ of the waves but tame the frizz. Am still experimenting with scrunching/plopping/etc.
Like here's some of the wave I get from leaving it alone to dry, which makes me excited to see what happens as it gets longer with a thick hemline this time (the bottom half of my bleached ends were much straighter than the top half was, I noticed).

You're welcome!! I tested it multiple times before mentioning it, because I was worried it was a fluke lol.
Ooof I couldn't just let my hair drip dry lol. It already takes a couple hours to get completely dry if I use a microfiber towel to leave it damp! I got a blow dryer for the first time in a billion years, and ooooh man my dry time has gone down SO MUCH. Now I don't have to worry about washing too late at night, because after 20 minutes or so my hair is dry!
I love your waves!!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Oh haha most of the time I don't do the drip dry, I'd still be wet days later lol! Usually I wrap with a towel, use said towel to squeeze as much water out as possible, flip my part a lot, sometimes I use a fan or blowdrier on cool. Takes significantly less time but does smooth some of the waves out in the process. Oh well, usually I look like 1c with some hidden 2a waves, which I can live with.

WISPE YOUR SKIN :O
Also pretty waves ladies :)
