Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Corvana it's great that you discovered that! :)
And I love the term 'cowlick cleavage', lol, although it's not funny when it is actually happening...

Behold my amazing ability to say no to straightening irons!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/EI...A=w365-h487-no
This has to be the first time in about five years that I've been to the hairdresser and said no to the straighteners. My hair certainly feels better for it. It doesn't have the crinkly little fried hairs I'd see every time it had been straightened.
She also cut me a super-long outgrown fringe kinda thing - apparently called a curtain fringe (which just makes me think of that 90s curtains style!). The wispy bits at the front of my face that just don't grow as far as everything else now have some friends to make nice face-framing bits out of :joy:
I am so happy with this cut! The texture is pretty hilarious though - it's kinda sleek and resistant to being held right now, but it'll get its usual grabby texture back when I wash it (maybe tomorrow, maybe Tuesday, depends how it feels) and it'll be easier to put up then. But right now, it's really nice to wear it loose for a little while.
I should have taken a pic going into the salon - I was having a great hair day yesterday! Weirdly, at this length, good hair days come more often than not. Guessing that's a combination of satin pillowcase, letting it hair dry, and tying it back in a way that encourages it to sit well when it's down. All lessons learnt!
Looks great! And the fringe is becoming, not too short :) The hair-friendly pillowcase is definitely a game-changer!

Kake I know it seems like you've been taking steps backwards with the trimming, but it is great to get the damage out. I'm not trimming for the rest of the year, and I'm sure others in this group are not either! We'll support each other.

Not anywhere near the same angle as my last few, but whatever tbh. The last one, for tattoo reference:

My hair looks like it's maybe a smidge past (or at the same length as) my first length shot! So I'm pretty sure I'm no longer in the negative gain territory! It's all in the positive from here on out!
Also I think when I took my last two pics (today's my husband took for me!), I tilted my head forward a smidge. Eh, close enough to accurate haha.
Corvana, Excellent growth!! And it looks healthy. :joy:

Congrats Candyapple! :D
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Corvana, nice progress!
_fred_, my hair takes 4-6 hours to air dry, depending on the season.
Candyapple, congrats on reaching APL! If your hair is dried out from swimming perhaps trying an SMT will help? I've never tried it myself but see it recommended quite a bit around the forum. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...read.php?t=128
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Update from me: I washed, conditioned, air dried most of the way, blow dried a bit so that it was straight, did the towel test, and then had DH check for me. I have a little less than 2" to go. I'm still on track for reaching APL by the end of September or early October.

:cheer: So close!! My current estimates put me at about October/November!

I'm on my way! I have another inch to go!

Is a butthead. You can see how it curves, it's like an S shape, and it's not small. Annoying, and makes me look like I've got a bald spot, especially in this lighting because it's so contrasting (and makes my hair look much darker, and my skin much paler).
LOL, that does make sense, thank you! I don't think it looks like a bald spot though :)

I've also recently started using one of these:

which I think speeds up the drying time more than when I use the cheaper hair turbans.
I would not want to go back to using any heat on my hair now as it has made such a difference to the condition!
Oooh nice! Totally checking to see if they have any of these in the shops on my way into work today.

Thank you! :D She did suggest shorter for it, but I wanted to be able to clip it back easily. Very glad I went for this length!
I still need to make some more satin pillowcases. My partner needs one, and we need some for laundry rotation...

Nice one! :joy:
I've not measured how far I have to go for a while, and I'm going to try to hold off until the Autumn. I'm hoping my hair will surprise me and I'll make it long before June next year...
