I just washed my hair this morning, after a cassia treatment on the weekend (it is straightest just after washing and about a week after a cassia treatment) and I have definitely arrived at APL. :cheese:
I have been ignoring it, and didn't realise!

I have also been ignoring my hair much more now that I can put it up. This irritant called real life has also forced me to ignore LHC more than I want to. But mine is ssslllooooowwwly creeping toward APL, still about 1/2" to 1" away. But it really does seem easier now that I can put it up, makes it so much easier not to focus on how short it is! :)
APL will be here, a few more inches, what is that, six months? I am being patient and wearing my hair up in a teeny tiny bun every day! I am ignoring it, hoping it will magically get longer. Bumping this thread!
Crisdee and kdaniels, you're going to pass me soon!!! Shrinkage makes it much slower for me.
I'll be sticking around here until it's APL dry ... that could be a long time. Probably well into next year.
Monthly check-in :]

Gallery shows last month's and this month's, if you're curious!
Got about an 1.25 since my last check-in, from the look of it. Whoo!
Looking at my length now, where APL is on me... and taking into account the trimming I will want to do to get rid of nasty old pixie layers.... I am guessing I will be here for a year. I'd best get comfortable. :)
Today I measured my hair and I have 1.25 inches to go until I reach APL.
Hi, ChrisDee!! Yes, I know, pictures. I will try to get a current picture this weekend....
Just checking in after almost a month of lurking around. Real life does get in the way, doesn't it?
A shout out to Jemoiselle, jimothea, pixiestar, CrissDee, Hotrox and jaine! All you girls have been around this thread at least as long as I have. Also, mrs _coffee and silverjen, I've got my eye on you two :)
A holler to all the new members of this thread too!
Welcome to H*LL!
No, I'm just kidding :D:o
It's just that shoulder to APL is such a pain! I've been here since March and I don't think I'll make it to APL by 2012. Mind you, I've had two trims. The last one was in August and it really fixed the shape of my hair. Most of my layers are gone (except a few wispy face-framing layers) and most of my highlights too. So that's good. My hair looks thicker, but it's also poofier and more pyramid-shaped. But I can stand it much more than the layered mess I had before.
Unfortunately, I've also hit a growth stall and I'm still barely 20 inches...
:D I've made it to collarbone!!!
^ Congrats :D
I had a 1/2 inch trim at the hair dressers today and now I'm about 2 inches off APL. Also got some layers to grow out but I hope to reach APL by early 2012.
My longest layer is officially at APL! I'm still not ready to call the milestone yet. I feel like I need to get a little farther in before I can really say my hair is that long, but I'm almost there! I'll try to post a picture later this week.
Well, I salute everyone who waits to call a length until more than 3 hairs are touching the finish line. :)
I've so many "I'm at APL, bye everyone!" posts here ... but to me about half of them looked like "can I call this APL?" length rather than a real solid APL.
My hair right now is a classic example of "can I call this APL" length ... line drawn through the highest armpit and only 3 hairs intersecting the line. :p This doesn't look like APL yet to me ... plus it's a roller set and the curls are looser than what I would have if I air-dried it.

Im at about 1 cm away from apl, but my hair is so wavy and curly, you cant see the length unless i pull my curl down or its wet. So frustrating :l
I won't be hitting APL for quiiiiite awhile. My hair seems to be growing back upwards. I think I need a hairtyping picture. :p
Hmmm... honestly in just four months I've gone from shoulder to almost halfway to APL. It shouldn't take more than another 6 months if I keep up the growth rate. =)
Looks like I need to join this thread. :)
I just chopped my splitty, breaky, layered, waist-length hair to shoulder.
Now I can grow it out healthy! :cheese:
Hello all! I'm new! My hair is a little bit past shoulder in the front and right at shoulder in the back. I cut my hair into a longer-than-chin bob in June and my goal is elbow/waist length hair.:)
I am APL at the front but at the back I am still a bit off APL. SO FRUSTRATING! x
I'm new to LHC. My hair is about 3-4" away from APL I think (I have a pic for my avatar but have to wait until 25 posts). I have no idea how long it will take me. Ive always felt my hair grows fast but have never clocked it! My goalie BSL.

Wow, HumanBean, your hair is so thick even with bangs!
That's funny you should say that. I was always told it was thick, by hairdressers etc., and then when I did the pony tail measure for the profile, I was disappointed thinking, guess its not as thick as I thought (I guess I was expecting to be in the highest category). But maybe only folks with kinky curly hair would be?
I believe there's a lot of members here who have thick, fine hair. Check out this thread, you might find it helpful:

i cut my hair to chin length in january 2011, it is now just past my collar bone. Unfortunately i am tall with a long neck and torso so it is going to take about a year to get to APL im guessing...:(
oh well, i have never had hair longer than a few inches past collar bone so APL to me will seem really long :D I will probably maintain at apl to get rid of some layers.
Hello! I'm new here, but also hair to just below the shoulders. I'm a little unsure about where I should start. What would you recommend? Want to have healthy and long hair! Two years ago I had really short hair ..
Is anyone else having the feeling that their hair just completely stopped growing??
hi RedBlue, yes I feel exactly the same way! I feel better that I'm not alone. I guess it's this stage of growing from shoulder too APL is the hardest. Everyone says the saame thing on this thread. I sure don't know why, its very frustrating. but let's be patient, it isn't getting any shorter, eh? It's just gotta grow...if anyone else is like this please post...
Ugh. I'm having an AWFUL hair week. I just started a new job, and I'm trying to make sure my hair looks cute and nice for work. I feel so blah and frumpy with my hair this length. Shoulder to APL is the worst. I have layers, so I can't really do any buns, and I feel like it's not really flattering on me right now. This is always the point that I get to before I end up chopping back to chin length. Does anyone have any style suggestions for me? I'm feeling pretty down about my hair in general right now (I've blown it dry three times this week and I keep beating myself up about it, and last week my hairstylist friend noticed that I have breakage underneath my hair from ponytails). Any words of encouragement are appreciated!
I definitely feel like mine has stopped growing:( I still hope to be at apl by christmas though:D
