Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Ughh, it feels like i haven't progressed at all. I know it's because i trimmed, but still...
And it seems my shed left a mark, i lost 1cm off my ponytail circumference. My hair feels thin and Blah these days...

Well, technically it's my brother's dog, but he spends a lot of time at our place, since my brother has no time for him, due to intense work schedule, so i consider him to be my dog too :)
He's definitely our family member.

No worries! You recently trimmed, so your lost circumference could be because of the trim. If those shorter layers are barely reach your pony and ends under the elastic you don't measure them. Just relax! You said somewhere you have tons of baby hairs! Just matter of time to reach your pony! ;)

Thanks for the encouragement..:flower: :grouphug:
It might be because of the trim, as you say. I did see a halo of baby hairs around my head when my hairdresser was blow drying my hair. I hope they grow long enough to get into my up dos soon.
I just have to be patient. Positive thing is that my hair grows rather fast. I can already see growth since last week's trim.
Next trim will be in january. I'll do a small one. Judging by my 2014 monthly length photos which i kept, i should reach APL in a year from now, including the trim...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My braids finally feel normal and do not stick out to the sides, hooray! And the progress is weird: sometimes it very visible, and sometimes not at all. At the front my hair is well past my armpits stretched, and in the shower it feels very close to BSL... but in reality it only just started looking solidly CBL. I'm in "no measuring till September" (or something like that) challenge, so I'll have to wait for the length pic, but I actually planned on hitting APL around August, so I might actually be close. Wurly problems :)

Going crazy for the next month til i can take my 1 year pics

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Stalking this thread, and glad I am. That dog is so beautiful Stray Mind!!
I am pretty much at shoulder length now after a few dodgy haircuts, I'm going to try and limit cuts now that my hair is all the same length again after growing out a pixie. It's been such a long process and its barely begun!! In here for the long haul :)
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It looks like I have 4-5 cm until APL. I did get a little set back because I trimmed my hair, I do feel like that was necessary though. For me, when I start to get tangles in my hair I know it's time to consider a trim. But I'm also a little annoyed that it will push my goals back like two months.
Fortunately my hairdresser is very careful so she trimmed only the worst. Kind of funny, I now appreciate her being so careful but when I had very short hair and wanted to keep it that way I felt she was too careful. :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Wow, so much activity! My laptop charger broke, so I've not been as active as I usually would!
I caved in and booked my 6 monthly trim, so that's this afternoon. Only it's blowing a gale outside, so that'll be fun to negotiate on the way home! My ends need making level, and hopefully this'll get rid of some of the damaged bits at the back that I can't really reach myself to S&D. I'm a bit nervous about it, but my stylist is a good 'un, so it should be OK.
victorian_girl I have similar with braids, they're just beginning to settle down! Though depending on the kind of braid, if I have a side braid it sometimes sits just off my shoulder rather than laying on it.
ponine I'm glad the trim worked for you, your hairdresser sounds great!

This is shoulder. It's touching my shoulder and hangs a little below when wet. Doesn't matter that it can curl up to my ears. I could true length and not where my curls fall.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So my hair has slowly eked past the shoulders, this is the longest its been ever I think - any one else who's grown from a pixe and reached this stage notice all the shedding hairs???! Ive managed to stretch my washes to 1 or two a week and I don't really brush my hair that often - but when I do - I think the hair that comes out is never going to stop til im bald!
I keep telling myself its cause you shed bout 100 hairs a day and they're longer so more noticeable - but still arrrgh a bit! just looking for reassurance really!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi all! I just chopped my hair to APL a few months ago. Then I went in for a trim and highlights a few weeks ago and she cut too much and slightly inverted my style. It is really cute I admit, but I want to grow it out now. So...I am at the beginning of shoulder, I think. In the back it is slightly past the top of shoulder.
I hope to have support in this forum! Are any of you at my length now? I need a buddy.

Helloooo! I remember you from old days, hahaha :)
Welcome and happy growing.
I think i am of similar length, mayyybe a bit shorter. I used to have an inverted bob, my hair in the front went past CBL, but now it's all about the same length.

:waving: Hi Sparkly, Welcome! I'm around CBL right now :) I'm not planning to trim for the rest of 2018.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I went back from kinda shoulder to solid shoulder in only two weeks :)
I hope my hair keeps up this growth rate.

Your hemline looks nice and full. I also joined the no trims for half of 2018... I hope my bleached hair holds up

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Had my half yearly trim, and it went well. My stylist was great, as usual. I had a full loyalty card, so I got my cut and finish for free, and went for a conditioning treatment on top, which was worth it simply for the smell, and I made her happy by giving double my usual tip (could afford that because free cut!). I did get her to blow dry it straight, and I do not regret it. It's so smooth and tangle free, and has been since Thursday! And I can only have this after a trim - at least until I learn to wrap properly. But today I'll wash it after my run, and it'll be back to my usual texture! At least hair toys will stay in it - they really don't when it's dried straight, so much slip!
I'm still hoping to reach APL in August, but it might be the far end of August! I'm so close.

Please forgive my usual bad quality photo, but towel test says NEEEEARLY. The hem isn't actually wonky, I just haven't worked out how to take a good photo by myself yet. I'll see if I can get a friend to take a proper length shot for me later in the week.

I call true length too, otherwise I would be stuck in super shorties for at least 3-4 years.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi everyone! I've enjoyed reading the last 30 or so pages of this thread, and I'm ready to jump in too! I used to have waist length, bleached hair, but finally grew it all out and cut my hair to a cute chin length style (photo in my album.) I ended up keeping a little longer than I intended, but it started to grow out when I moved away from my hair dresser to a new city in December. Here's my hair now, I'm excited to start paying attention to my growth rate so I can start estimating my goal lengths!

Hi LadyAdelina
You have really healthy looking hair :) yours is just a bit longer than mine I think but mine is super thick so makes it hard to tell. We have similar colors too but mine isnt natural
I want to fast forward the next 12 months so that it can be long already!!

My hair wasn’t quite at pixie, but I am noticing a ton of shedding now! Just normal activities like washing my hair, oiling the ends... Trying not to worry too much, I think it is just because our hair is longer and more noticeable now.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Thanks for the compliments and welcomes! I’ve had dyed hair since I was 13, I don’t think I’ve heard the word “healthy” to describe my hair too much, haha. I’m loving the condition now though.
MissMuse and Stray_mind, yay for similar lengths! We can grow through this stage together. :)

Don't forget me! I'm at the same length too!! :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I measured my hair (while wet because I’d the waves) and it is 19 inches long. I think APL is around 24 inches on me. I’m not doing any trims for the rest of the year and then I will re-evaluation the condition. Hopefully I can get away with a dusting And make it to APL by early spring!

Welcome! Your hair looks gorgeous -- I love the body wave!
It also spooked me for a minute because I think we're hair twins (if I brush mine out) -- mine looks so similar in texture and color that your photo could be a picture of the back of my own head!

It must feel great to have cut out the bleached hair. I am shoulder length all highlighted so it will take me awhile if I decide to grow out. I think I have to in order to get the hair health I want. Welcome!
