Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
mine is...between chin & shoulder. it's nearly to my collar of my shirt, but not quite yet. maybe about an inch away.
I think, if i took REALLY good care of it, that I could manage that by early next year. It's happened once before , that i went from shoulder to APL in about a few months [my hair grows like a weed, who knows]. it was also in better shape, so i'm thinking hopefully by my birthday, which is March 21st.
& that's weird that you said biotin gives you bad skin. breakouts? because i've been having some as well, but at the same time i'm stressed/get poor sleep/diet, & was close to my period. so i don't know what to blame  but i didn't know Biotin did that to you so it might be the culprit for me as well. i'll keep taking & see what happens. but interesting!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I was nearly at APL but I had layers and the flimsy bottom part was annoying me to no end so I decided to cut around 2 inches off this afternoon.
I don't do anything special to make it grow faster. I just take care of my hair as best I can and wait.
Previous experience with growing my hair out taught me it feels like it doesn't grow at this length and I'll be stuck with at shoulder length forever but then one day I get my hair stuck in my armpit and it will feel like my hair grew 5 inches over night.
I've never measured my hair though. I think I might give that a go to keep up with the progress.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Here I am at "Can I Call This Shoulder?" length. APL looks like I need about 6 more inches, so maybe in a year I'll be there...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Here's a length shot I took last night, I'm really not sure if this is APL or not. It's close! I'm a bit sad though, because my ends are starting to feel as if they may need a trim soon.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It looks APL to me! I hate when im about to hit a milestone and my hair needs a trim :(
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Looks like APL to me, too! (stomps away feeling jealous...)
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I seem on track to hit APL by the end of the year (merry Christmas to me!) but only the longest part will be there. Sigh! I will have to trim it to match the rest, but maybe not this year... I need more length! I'm a length junky! haha!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I am below collarbone at the moment, having cut it above collarbone with a small trim in august. I'm so close to APL but I still feel like it's miles away. And BSL? Forget about it.
I have had short hair for most of my college career and I don't know why but I continuously cut it shorter and shorter every year since I've been here. I want to have APL hair by christmas and pretty BSL by graduation in May. I wonder if thats attainable? Ahhhhh.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm at flip length :( so its sitting on my shoulders but any length I gain is lost in the flip. I think I'll be at APL early next year. I'm trimming a month of growth (0.5") away every three months- I hope that makes sense. I want to trim the dyed hair out. So its a bit slow going. But I think I'll be happier trimming like this rather than reaching a milestone and having to cut inches off because these bleached ends can get pretty nasty pretty fast.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
You're right! I got a microtrim today and it feels better now. My mom help me at the back and I think it's on the perfect go to APL
Be patience girls!

October length shot... Cheating, because I had my hair in a pencil bun, so I lost most of my curl pattern. When it's entirely straight, I'm pretty sure I'm verrrrrrrrrry close to APL, but curly I lose about 3-4 inches...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
:wail: I'm basically at the starting line. I though I was in inch or so past. *Sigh* I have a distorted self/hair image.

(I havent included a BSL point because its hard to figure out where it is from a pic)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm in this category now, it's a little past my shoulders atm, after my recent big cut from around BSL.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I think I should have been at apl by now but I have had to have a decent cut recently (my sides where so much short than the back making it look a bit weird - so I cut 2 1/2" to even it all up) I hate it being shorter and part of me regrets cutting it, but a least I can wear it down now. My hair just reaches collar bone so I'm roughly 3" short of apl. I'm hoping it will be around Christmas or maybe new yearish.

I know how you feel. I want to regret cutting, but I had to do it. The bleached green ends had to go...but they were almost there! :wail:

I have the same issue. If I want to say how long my hair is, I have to double check, otherwise I will completely say its longer, not to brag, but because I forget and believe its longer.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Well, I am definitely at or slightly past the starting line now with my longest layer! Exciting! :)

Thanks.... but I think you're confusing me with someone else, as the last time I posted here I had hair between BSL and waist, and I had a big chop a few weeks ago (as I've shedded a lot due to illness). I certainly haven't had great growth, LOL:)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm just a few inches past shoulder length.
Nothing but problem city for me atm. Seems like my hair looked nicer when I beat it up all the time.
Hoping for APL by early next spring... if I can figure out what's making my hair snap off!

Is it a protein overload? That can lead to snapping...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I looked at my hair tonight and my goodness, I am almost APL! :D
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I decide to cheat while I'm waiting for my hair to be long enough for my bun to be held with just a stick. I'm using an elastic now.
Shoulder to APL takes FOREVER! It really is a lot of growth to achieve. I'm maybe 2 inches past shoulder and still need two more.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm almost APL too...love my hair growth rate, it's going faster than I thought.
Giving myself another 1 month and a half :)
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
At 23 1/2" I think I can finally call this APL (curly dry).
What do you think?
(see Avatar/my album. Couldn't edit sigi pic)

Looked at your album and you can definitely call your hair APL. Well done :)- you've had some good growth over a year! Your curls are lovely too.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Thank you:)
It took me a year and for the longest time I thought I'll never get to APL!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I can't keep myself from continuously measuring. Ahhh!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Mine is just a bit short of shoulder, I think it'll take about six months for it to be APL, maybe longer.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm almost there :D!! It's taking forever, I had to cut so much in the front because of the inverted bob I used to have.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...ictureid=84853
Is there a code we can use to make the pic appear smaller in a post?

I'm not sure what it is, tbh. I haven't been loading it up with ANY protein at all. I've just been having all sorts of issues with breakage and general shedding since I switched (for budget reasons) from Catwalk's Honey & Oatmeal conditioner, which I used for years.
I've shopped around and tried a few things... but it's the same problem with anything else I've tried.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I had my hair trimmed saturday and it actually has gotten really long at the back. My hair is thinner and never seems to grow at the front so it makes it feel shorter:(
Right now it doesnt matter because i have to put it up as i just had a tattoo and my hair sits in the ointment and gets greasy!
I jsut wish the front would grow and thicken!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I am growing to APL....again. I hope to be there by next summer!

I'm exactly the same. I have had to have two decent cuts this year because I was getting a huge step from the side to the back, it looked awful :(. The back of my hair grows 1" per month but the sides probably have only grown 2" in a year! The only thing I can think of is that heat damage effects the sides more than the back because its finer . I used to straighten everyday and I think even a year on and reducing hair straightening to only special occassions my hair is still breaking at the sides. You could try GENTLY brushing your hair over a white piece of paper and see if its breaking.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Only 2" to APL! It's flipping right now so that hides its length a bit. Maybe APL by the new year!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have about 1.5-2 inches to go.

Yes in a month for sure. I was so happy when I saw the pic! My hair grows an average of 0.6 inch/month. Does it take longer to grow APL to BSL than shoulder to APL ?
