Taliaria, it looks like it might be, but as MegaMystery said, the angle makes it hard to tell.
Hi millyaulait, thanks for sharing that video. It lured me into a long hairstick video session on YouTube ;). I think I sort of get it but I haven't yet produced a bun I would wear outside of my home. I think that maybe for sticks layers are more of a problem than for clips or forks. My next toy purchase shall be a ketylo stick ...
Right now I'm waiting for a MairzyDozy fork, though, and I promised myself I would hold off on any new purchases for at least four weeks.
:disco:
I've considered myself to be at shoulder length now for maybe 1,5 month
(ever since my hair started to brush my shoulders when dry) but I'm kinda stressed out about the state of it :( Mostly since it's really layered because I grew it from a buzz cut, which grew into a mullet which I then chopped of to a layered deep U-shaped bob. Almost no hairstyles work for me at all since the front of my hair is quite a bit shorter than the back. I could just even it all out to get it over with but that would take me back to chin length...
Then there is the fact that it's too long to be worn down comfortably but there are a lot of thin strands (+ fringe) that just won't stay in the do's I manage. The strands are okay if it's my washday(I wash in the mornings), but the second and third it just looks really ugly. That means I put them away with small clips and occasionally some bobby pins that snags the strands of leaving my hair even more layered. Not to mention the fact that the shortness of my hair forces me to constantly repeat my hairstyles and I worry that the do's in themselves are damaging my hair... :demon:
Lol I'm sorry for the long messy post but I'm actually quite sad, it feels like I'm never going to grow past this point :( I really try my best to care for my hair but it feels like I'm ruining it.
Just wanted to show you guys that you can use a fork with this length hair. This is a Grah Toe mini Lilliputian size and it is perfect on my thin, fine hair.

I am sooo close to APL, I can almost taste it! Here's hoping for an APL Summer!!!:happydance:
It's a peacock twist like you use with a claw/clip. You just twist and fold up against your head. The top sprouty part is just pushed to the side. You could also do the same thing with the fork horizontal, so the top would be on the side, but I find it holds better in my slippy hair this way.
Too drunk to do TT. And I've been noticing most people don't take part anyway (maybe Tuesday is a bad day for most people?). Maybe we should have Treatment Tuesday Check in so people can share what treatment they've done or are planning for the week.
I know what you mean. I'm kind of at a weird stage in between chin and shoulder, plus I have grown out neck layers that look weird. I'm not going to even it out, though, since I'd rather quickly get to a stage where I can do several different updos.
I'm constantly searching for different types of gentle hair elastics to avoid damage because I really can only do a ponytail at this length. Have you tried headbands? If you are worried about bobby pin damage, maybe try something like that.
Good luck. I'm sure it will get better. :)
I just had to laugh at this! Though I've heard beer rinses can be a good treatment. ;)
i now reach shoulder hope to reach apl or more by end of this year ! congrats to those who reached their short goal length
I did a TT on Monday evening, thinking it would be Tuesday already in another part of the world :-)
Should be washing now, but the weather has been terrible here the last few days/weeks, and right now it's pouring outside. I don't see myself going out with my hair in its newfound natural state, that would turn into a frizzball before I even get to my car...
I want nice, warm, sunny spring weather to encourge a bit of hairgrowth, I feel like I'm stalling again...
I did a TT today - I did a castor oil/olive oil treatment from roots to ends and am now sitting at my computer and letting it sink in :) Its my first castor oil application, I hope I see some extra growth.
After a fairly long haitus, just checking in....
Still at UBL, but only because I keep trimming off damage from my bleaching days. Almost back to a full head of virgin hair! Hoping to reach a healthy APL by, hmmm...autumn, maybe? But I said that last year too, and have been trimming off the bleached junk this whole time, lol.
P.S. I want in on this Tuesday Treatment thing!
I'll check in on the TT! I did a moisture treatment again...really trying to repair the ends of my hair, here! :)
But yes, I agree with Sillage (in principle) , let's check-in on Treatment Tuesdays (or Wednesdays or whenever you can check-in) and let everyone know what we were up to :D
I like the idea of a TT check-in. I don't always have time to do a treatment on Tuesdays. In fact, I plan to do a SMT tomorrow. :)
And mini Gratoe forks. I so didn't need to see that. Maybe that will be the treat I buy myself when I reach APL... a Gratoe. oooh. I am liking this idea!
Rargh! My longest layers are about half an inch away from APL, but my shortest layers are just at shoulder now! I'll be here for a long time yet! xD
Confession time, I did something really bad with my hair yesterday...:(
I got so fed up with the comments about my hair color, no about the fact that the warmth makes it red and makes me look sick, that I washed it with Head&Shoulders Lemon, not just once, but 3 times in a row, rubbing in into the lengths...
Until my scalp hurt really badly from the agressive shampoo...
I put on a heavy duty hair mask afterwards, but still I feel a bit guilty. Looks good though, and it doesn't feel dry at all, it feels really light and airy, something that never happens to my very heavy thick hair.
Color-wise, it helped a bit, it is lighter now, the strange glow seems to have disappeared and my highlights are coming through again. But I'm afraid the red/orange will not go away with a little shampoo...
*le sigh* My layers were giving my grief today, they weren't having any of that "stay in the french twist" baloney. Maybe it's misbehaving because it wants a deep conditioning treatment. I feel like it hasn't gotten any longer yet, and am going to be so sad if I don't reach at least "Can I call this APL?" yet by my wedding. I have three months, and I'm pretty sure 1.5 inches will be enough to get the longest layer there, but it *feels* like it isn't getting any longer. Thanks for letting me grumble!
Aww, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I'm sure it will be a good few inches longer by then! :D
My boyfriend's been made perfectly aware that I refuse to get into The White Dress until I have at least waist length hair! :P
I'm soo happy with this little bun that I made today. It's something like a cinnamin bun secured with a black scrunchie. I am growing out from an ear length angled bob, that was shorter and wedged in the back, so my shortest pieces are in the back and have to be put up with bobby pins. They are sooo close to being able to make it into a high bun or a high ponytail. I am really excited for that day when I don't have to pin the back part up.

Ooh, I like the idea of a goal treat! Especially as I'm only a couple of inches away from APL - one of those mini forks will be mine :D
Your hair is so pretty! Even if it isn't the length you want, I love those curls and that shine.
I'm in on treatment check-in Tuesday. I'm washing my hair on Mondays now, so that is when I would do a treatment if I was going to. I did my henna this week - left it on for 6 or so hours. It's seriously flame red now! Shinier than before, but feels a little dry.
I am sooooo close to APL. I have not measured in a while nor looked, I am trying to just keep it up and ignore it but someone said wow, your hair is getting long! and I am thinking really? It isn't even APL yet! In a couple years it should be back to waist, my pre-chemo length.
I think I'm about an inch from APL. Are the albums locked again? I tried to upload a couple of pictures and nothing happened. I wanted to show off my first feeble attempt at a braid. :-)
I made a trim yesterday... 1,5 inches, in my monthly attempt to get rid of damage.
It's so short now! Forever shoulder. :(

I think I am going to start my week out with an SMT tomorrow. At least that is the plan, let's see what happens to screw it up. :P
There's always a Treatment Tuesday to cover up if you screwed it up :-)
Enjoy your SMT tomorrow!!!
My hair seems to be growing so fast! I can't wait to hit APL! :D
My fiance has turned into quite the enabler. He just ordered me these, and finally came to terms with the fact that I'm growing my hair out. I'm so excited :D
I just started using Rooibos tea rinses, and I've been oiling my scalp everyday in the shower. My shampoo is about 50% mixed oils.
I've never done an SMT :o but I imagine you could hit the mixture with a *gasp* hair dryer for a few minutes to heat it up, on or off your head. :)
I think you only need to microwave the mixture to stop the honey from lightening your hair... So if you don't mind it, you can just mix it and put it on your hair...
I'm not sure if a blowdryer has enough power to stop the peroxide from working without heating the SMT too much.
Bunnysaur, those are gorgeous hairsticks!!!!
You need to heat the honey until it bubbles to get rid of the peroxide - atleast the hairdryer I have doesn't get that hot. If you have a kettle or a frying pan, you could try putting the honey in a mug and then place the mug in the frying pan/kettle, then fill the kettle with water and boil it for a while until the honey is hot enough.
How did it go with the CO-not-working-thing, AndreaPetrea, btw? Have you managed to find a suitable conditioner yet?
We're in the middle of moving, so I forgot to take my Saturday-night progress pic. Here is one from tonight. I found out one reason it looks so fuzzy is my hair is actually wavy and I brush it as straight as possible for length pics.
