ARGH!! I had my hair wet and in front of my shoulders when I walked past a mirror and seen I'm 1.5inches away from APL :D
Haven't taken my back length shot yet though which I have a funny feeling will not be as productive as this recent discovery haha.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Seems like I am about 3 inches away... however that is with my hair unstretched... I REALLY feel like straightening my hair but I just am so lazy and it has been raining almost everyday here.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I am here now! :3 The coils/curls are making this a dreadful slow process.

This made me smile!
My hair is/was sooooo short but the way it dried last time I washed it makes it look kind of long to me today. I intend on enjoying the view rather than snapping a real length shot and learning that it's nothing. ;)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I don't know exactly how long my hair is atm, as I haven't measured it. And lately, I am not doing much to it except co washing and air dry, with camellia oil as a leave-in a few times a week. I broke my leg last month and am having a lot of difficulty with bathing in general since I'm not allowed to put weight on the leg or get the cast wet. But I have to say it's starting to LOOK longer and my waves have returned as the layers got longer. I figure that is a good sign, right? It means the hair has to be growing. It's been a year now since I stopped coloring my greys to cover them up, and the root growth is amazing. I just wish my hair grew as fast as squiggyflop's does. She has some unnaturally fast growth, and I am in a state of complete hair envy over it.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Haha. More of a quick twist bun thing lol
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
A lot of my hair is shoulder length when wet. I am blaming my waves plus the digital camera for creating the illusion of hair shrinkage. If I don't trim much, I am hoping to reach APL in 7-8 months. Being short should help me reach my hair goals sooner!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I hit a milestone as I can make a tiny (say size of a quarter) bun and hold it up with a extra small flexi 8. Lots of hair hanging down that does not quite make it but I am thrilled to be able to bun, no matter how small it is. On my way to APL!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Congrats to all of you who're getting closer to APL!
I myself seem also to slowly reach it; hoping by Christmas it'll be APL for sure!!!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
HI everybody!
I'm in this horrible no man's land AND I HATE IT. With wet hair, I'm only two inches from APL (guesstimate) but with dry curly hair, like three inches away.
I feel like everything to do with my hair will be a million times better when I finally reach APL. Then BSL's not too far either.
I need your support ya'll!!!

Looking at your avatarpic it seems like we have the ecaxt same length. I feel you!
But I have serious breakage, been on this length since April now :boohoo:. I really can't stand it anymore. Trying to put it up and out of my way and mind, But I can't help to almost cry everytime I take it down to re-bun or washing. Oh if it only would hit APL...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Okay, milk, you and I shall be hair twins!
And I know exactly what you mean about crying when you see your hair. What have you been doing so far to help? Not heat styling has made a drastic difference in my hair, as did doing proper S&D. I have had great success with MegaTek even though it's expensive.
My roommate has waist-length healthy hair. Shiny and long. It makes me cry too :(
BUT LET'S CHEER UP! Every single morning we wake up, our hair is not shorter. In fact, it's a little bit longer. And when we reach APL, we'll really appreciate it :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have a class where all the girls have waist or longer hair, I don't think much of it. Let's concentrate on our hair. How it was a few months back, how it looks better on us now. And how we will look good when we reach the next mini-milestone! :D
My hair is APL stretched now, but looks pretty much the same due to my bottom waves curling up. I'll do the same as jaine and wait until it looks APL all time, even in the curliest state, because to me, APL is the first step to having "long hair". When I have APL hair in all states I'll definally feel like I don't have short hair anymore, it's definally in the "medium" cathegory.

I agree. It definitely feel's longer to me now. At work yesterday someone said "Your hair's got really long" But I guess long to us mean's something different:D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm sadly joining in here....I recently cut my hair to shoulder length after wanting a long angled bob for some time. Although I like the new cut, I've realized long hair really is "me" and have decided to grow it back to waist. On the bright side, my hair grows fairly fast and I know my new growth will be super healthy and I'm interested to see what all of the milestones will be like.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi, I'm new here :) I recently chopped off my long hair due to heat damage around 4 months ago and it's grown around 2 inches since then. It's at shoulder length now and I have 2.5 inches of hair growth till I officially make it to APL.
I really do regret cutting my hair. Even though it was damaged, I loved my long hair. It made me feel pretty and now it's so short :'( I used to cry every time I washed my hair :/
So, I should reach APL by the end of January and planning to grow my hair till my waist! :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I decided to grow my hair about 4 months ago. Last week was my first end trim. Just snips. I go in for bang trim about monthly. I started keeping a hair journal last week with measurements. I just wish for the day when I can have a pony without bobby pins on these awful layers.
I think it will take about another year to reach bsl. Have to see how fast my hair really does grown.

Welcome to LHC ILoveYou... Lol :) and happy growing.
I'm also waist bound. Unfortunately, SL to APL is the looooooongest stretch for me. About 8" from shoulder o.O From there, it'll be a breeze... A few inches from BSL, and a couple more to waist. *SIGH OF REGRET* D:
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
:D that describes me! My hair is almost there if I stretch out the curlies, but otherwise its just getting past shoulder. I gave up striaghtening the back.... I still striaghten my fringe and sidelocks, lol. I would have a very tall afro if I didnt.
To spead things up I have been using monostat 7 every night, on the entire scalp for the first week of a every month. I also switch shampoos a LOT. I sometimes sleep with a head covered in coconut oil, or olive oil, and I take biotin and multivitams. I am vegan and contrary to popular belief that just seemed to make my hair grow faster. I eat a better diet then most though, so it might just be me.
Since I started measuring, Ive grown 5 inches in 5 months. I think thats pretty good for a vegan, LOL ;)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
What's up everyone!
Just did a quick September measure-in. I'm at 20 inches again since my last trim (I had reached a little over 21 inches). APL is still about 3 inches away!
I was just looking at the body "markers" thread and realized after posting my picture that shoulder to APL is the longest distance for me, probably because my long neck and a long back! BSL to waist is the next longest but it's still 2 or 3 inches shorter than SHL-APL.
I've been on this thread since March and it's felt like FOREVER, especially since I've been between 17 and 21 inches the whole time.
Oh well, at least my hemline is more or less even and the worst of my highlights have been trimmed away.

Hiya to all the new people! Happy growing guys :)
And Alyanna I know exactly how you feel! I joined this thread in February I think and have been trimming horrible long POB layers to have a blunt hemline at APL. I'm finally back at 21 inches so really hoping it will be APL for Christmas! It is the longest distance between any body markers for me though.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi also to all the new people that have joined the thread:D
Hi to Alyanna and pink.sara I agree with you both, this is definitely the worst stage. My last measure put me at 20 inches, so 1 hopefully to go till apl:D I'm also in the no trims challenge, so trying not to trim till the end of the year. I also have a really uneven hemline (does not show well and pics) so can't wait to even up:D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I can finally post to this thread with something useful. :] I just recently truly made it to SL, and I'm working to APL. I can finally put my hair up in a peacock twist, and that's all I ever do with my hair, now. Hah. http://www.sweetlycaustic.com/hair/hairmeasurein.jpg

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It's been a year since I joined this thread! And I'm still no closer to APL lol

You could also try a sock bun, gibson tuck, french/dutch braids, variables in half-ups.

slo2gro, you are so close.

just dont think about it for a week or so (easier said than done, I know) and maybe the next time you check you will be there!
Nice ends are almost a fair trade-off methinks :D

Aaaah! But doesn't that blunt hemline feel nice? Especially at shoulder-length. I think I can handle layers or fairytaling a lot better with longer hair past APL.

Thats totally true! It's so much healthier looking with blunt ends. :)
I'm aiming to thin it out and add lots of layers once it gets to BSL as it's so thick it looks a little blocky without them but thats probably a year away!
APL by Xmas though.... Pleeeeeaase?!!!
