Oh thank you :blossom: I have to brush my hair into submission to make it straight these days, the canopy is straight but it’s pretty bumpy and wavy underneath. I hardly ever brush my hair anymore but I don’t know any other way to make it look intentional! Maybe when the henna grows out my canopy will wave more and it’ll all settle down and play nicely together.

Judging by your lovely curls, you’re finding your way just fine :) There’s always something to learn isn’t there. I was thinking that if I spent 2 weeks trying out every new method or product that I thought might be helpful, one at a time, my hair would be long before I’d even finished experimenting :)

Oh I didn't realize you had henna. That is what my hair did with Henna too, maybe once it grows out you will discover waves on your canopy too. I actually really loved my henna grow out process when my hair was about BSL. I could make the coolest looking french braids with the different colors weaving in and out. How long are you planning to grow?

I’m starting to get a tiny bit of wave in the canopy, where the henna has started to grow out. I’m pretty sure that my waviness increased after having a baby (my greys certainly did!) so this is all new territory for me.
I don’t know how long I’m planning to go :) I’m nervous of setting a goal and then not being able to reach it. I’m taking it one milestone at a time. I have it in mind that I could have all natural waist length hair by the time I’m 50, if I keep going (I’m 46). Waist is about 33” on me and I need regular trims so it’s a long ol’ process. It would be nice to get there, but I’m going to keep evaluating as I go.

That is neat to discover new hair texture as your henna grows and after having a baby. It does take some adjusting of your routine though. I hear you on the grays! I am turning 43 this month so I definitely have some of those myself. That is one reason I am trying to not cut this time. I would like to reach my goal of waist length and stay there at least once in my grown up life, and it would be nice to get there before I am 50. Then I can evaluate and decide where I really am happiest with my hair. Hopefully. :) Fingers crossed for both of us in our hair-growing journey! :)

Yes I’m still trying to work out the best routine. I go through phases of treating it as wavy, then deciding that it isn’t consistently wavy enough because of the canopy, so I go back to brushing it straight, but that causes breakage so I only do it every few months. All in all, giving it a load of moisture and putting it in a peacock twist seems to be the best bet at the moment!
It’s funny that we’ve both got solid waist length by 50 in mind :) I think I’ll have full on white streaks by then, hopefully nice dramatic ones :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Really nice and healthy looking hair ReadingRenee and Ladystardust! Looks we're all in the same boat length wise, more or less.
And Welcome Offie! Yes I agree that it is easier to follow the growth between chin and shoulder. After that it is just: shoulder, shoulder, shoulder, oh below collarbone, but still.. shoulder.. and then some day APL! :D
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Waveurly-your hair looks so healthy and beautiful! It's grown so much since the first few pics i saw. :)
Great progress.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I can't believe my hair is finally reaching the end of the shoulder-length phase. I estimate that in 2 months it will be APL. My hair has been in shoulder-length or just above for 4 years now. I can't wait until its out of that stage.

Congrats and welcome! Two months seems quick! Happy growing :)
*Edit: I'm just now thinking I might have read your post wrong. You're probably graduating this thread in about 2 months? Anyway that sounds great! ;)

Thank you all :)
ReadingRenee, your hair is very pretty!
And congrats Ilyem!
