Hi :) welcome and congrats on growing out what I believe to be the hardest stage of hair growing ever !!! If you can get through the pixie stage you can achieve anything IMO

Thank you, _fred_!
I will try it with bobby pins or claw clips. I haven't decided yet if i like that fork. I should wait to have more length. :)
Welcome, GoodPixie! I growed out from a pixie 20 years ago, and the memory is still a pain! Congratulations for your patience and dedication! Happy growing!
Oh goodness, yes! Those super short layers are definitely gonna cause some issues.
And you're welcome! Your post reminded me about doing it, since sometimes I'll go see someone's photos and wonder how long their hair was when they made that style. I know that thickness is also a factor, and mine has gotten a smidge thicker (yay and also not yay lol) which caused me a good bit of trouble for awhile!
Lumienkeli, I do double braids and lots of halfups at my current length(shoulder/collarboneish). I just had a trim back to one length (no more angled bob for me) and can no longer consistently do anything but a seashell bun or.messy ponytail bun abomination, bun-wise. I have been experimenting with multiple buns (I stacked three the other day) and with tucking multiple braids around each other into a pseudo crown or bun formation. A Gibson tuck is easy at this length, too! But honestly it’s also very easy to wear down or braid the bangs and throw it in a ponytail, so I do that the most. Pull through or elastic braids may also work for you.
eta: i have a hair instagram where I’ve been posting most of my successful (for me) styles for the last year or so, including after my big chop in November. If you wanted insp or any thing. It’s strawberrywispe :)
I got a hair fork in the mail that i ordered probably two months ago and forgot about which made me want to try using the toys again after giving up before and im happy to report they now hold! I still have layers poking out but i dont care lol this was really motivating especially after ive been very down on myself about my hair lately this felt great
Pictured: lazy wrap bun with a stick, the same with the fork (MUCH better hold) and an attempt at a flipped bun not sure what i ended up with but i dont hate it at all

I dont know why the pictures are so skewed/warped but im too tired to fix it right now lol
Thank you, wispe! The seashell bun make me super excited! It looks great. I tried it, it slipped apart, but I will experiment it with more, just now I have no time.
Your buns looks really good! I like how the dark stick is showing in your hair!
Congratulations on this milestone, Trip!
I still can't make a full bun, only a very messy half up one.
Your buns look really wonderful :)
I’m think I am APL but I’m not calling it until l after the end of the no trim challenge on 1st July as I will probably have a good trim then and it will probably set me back enough to stay here a bit longer
I can’t see me growing enough more length to stay APL after a trim that soon
I’ve been s&ding my own hair occasionally and realized due to having a bit of processed ends (not too bad), that I need to get a slight overall trim. I was so nervous though and was worried that the stylist I chose would cut off too much or use too much heat etc. I was SO pleased that the person I went to was super delicate with my hair, cut off 1/4 to 1/2 inch max and from all my layers too. He also used medium heat and kept the blow dryer farther away from my hair as he dried it to finish cutting my layered ends. When he was done there wasn’t much difference in overall length which I’m very happy about and my ends still felt much better. I think my ends are good enough now that I can wait 6 months now for my next trim. So happy and relieved I found the perfect hairdresser for trims while I grow out my hair. Hoping I’ll get to armpit length by the end of summer! Just wanted to share my excitement over me finding a good hairdresser for my hair goals.
