He also used medium heat and kept the blow dryer farther away from my hair as he dried it to finish cutting my layered ends. When he was done there wasn’t much difference in overall length which I’m very happy about and my ends still felt much better. I think my ends are good enough now that I can wait 6 months now for my next trim. So happy and relieved I found the perfect hairdresser for trims while I grow out my hair. Hoping I’ll get to armpit length by the end of summer! Just wanted to share my excitement over me finding a good hairdresser for my hair goals.
I'm so glad you've found a good hairdresser and that the trim was a really good experience :D Best of luck reading APL by the end of summer! I'm hoping to get there then too.

A couple of days agoI shared my frustration with you that nothing works beside a peacock twist held by a claw clip.
So I did this.

What is that? :) I twisted my hair as for a cinnamon bun, but my length is only enough for a half coil. That's it for now. It was comfy and held well on day 4 and 5 hair. I am sure it would explode on a freshy washed hair. I am a weekly washer.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Lumienkeli, perhaps you could call it a cinnamon twist? ;) I'm glad it holds, it's such a good feeling :D
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I feel like my hair is stuck. I have been busy with life (finished my undergrad, started and quit a very stressful job, and am transitioning to a vegetarian diet), and since the beginning of april my hair has grown exactly... 0". I am really sad about it because it was growing so well, up to 22", then I trimmed back to 20" and it has just, hung out there. I know it is likely due to stress and the diet change (though it hasn't been a huge leap from my typical diet), but it has me seriously bummed..
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I used to have hip length hair and after several years, I decided to grow it back out. I’m a little past shoulder and this is my absolute least favorite part of the hair-growing process. All I can really do with it is a ponytail or a sad bun and when it’s down it clings to my neck.
Using oils and being nice to it helps and I really like watching hair stuff on YouTube for inspiration. The quality of my hair has definitely improved and it’s been about six months since my last trim, and I see no splits.

I've been wearing my hair like that too. I can just forget about my hair when it's like this, which I like.
I've gotten a bit hairstyle challenged, buns just aren't doing it for me, I feel frumpy with a regular bun. It's so hard right now, I keep telling myself to keep going, but I'm not sure what my hair needs.

Congrats on finishing your undergrad! :cheer: And on quitting a stressful job, that sounds like a very wise move.
I take it you've been measuring, and it's not just that horrible 'it's not growing' stage that seems to follow every haircut (for me anyway. I really dislike that stage! Every time I have a trim it feels like two or three months before I start to make any more progress). I'm so sorry you're stalled, I'd be just as bummed out in that situation. Fingers crossed the stall will stop soon and you'll get some growth again.

Welcome! :blossom: And congratulations on the lack of splits, that's awesome :D Also, your avatar is super cute!
I'm glad you've found some ways to get through the difficult stage.

Got a friend to take a photo of my hair seeing as I'm useless at it. Please forgive the pub toilet aesthetic, it was during writing group.

SO CLOSE. But still so far. I know I keep saying that, but it's really frustrating. Especially so as yesterday a well-meaning friend described it as shoulder length. Yup, in the eternal purgatory of shoulder length. I'm really looking forward to when it actually looks long, not this mid-length blah that really doesn't suit my body type. Because I'm large, I think I have another year before it stops looking shoulder length. Hopefully in that time it will have passed APL and be on its way to BSL. With any luck.
Anyway, enough with the negativity. I re-purpled my hair on Thursday, then followed a tutorial for a lazy wrap bun for people with hair just past shoulder. It came out like this, and I'm super pleased. I wasn't expecting it to have any hold, but it holds like a rock.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Your hair is nothing like shoulder length !!!!
You look APL .
I don’t even understand how your friend thought to describe your hair as shoulder length .
Your shoulders would be oddly close to your boobs otherwise lol
