Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
it have been getting 'server busy' a lot lately!
I am also getting frustrated with my hair growth - we are coming into winter now and I guess??? hair growth slows down.
I try to wear hair up - but I fail mostly, must get more practice with hair styles. I braided my cousin's hair (she is 8) the other day, she can almost sit on her beautiful black curly hair , but wow, gave me another perspective on how difficult really long hair is to style. Not just my collar bone length!
Inspired by oktobergourd I did do a dutch braid the other day and went out to dinner wiht it SO liked it very much, sticky out bits and all.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
The site was down for me for awhile it was so busy, or the server was just down I'm not sure :( my ends aren't happy I can't wait for a trim but I want my hair to grow so bad! I won't be on this thread for much longer.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
hahaha :) I've been getting the busy server thing a whole lot as well :hatchet: , on the upside I've been practicing my crown braid (I'm stubbornly determined to get it right!:draw:) It's not going well yet XD I also did some rather satisfactory S&D wich brought to my attention that I need a microtrim :ponder:, asap, but I'll hold out until the end of november I think
HEre's my latest attempt u.u

I really need to figure out how to french braid. I can't sleep with my hair loose anymore(!), so I have to do something with it, but I can't :(
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
NoRush, that's so pretty! Looks difficult though!
I've been at shoulder length for as long as i can remember, it's frustrating. I used to have long, healthy, natural hair almost down to my waist until a hairdresser convinced me to chop it all off in 2007. Since then I've abused my hair a million different ways, but thankfully the color and damage are all grown out now. I'm just dealing with layers.
After stalking LHC for the last 6 months I've borrowed a couple of you guys' ideas (thanks!). I oil, condition and clarify regularly, rarely flat-iron and blow-dry and recently hennaed. I do a final rinse with distilled water, tap water is too heavy here. Also protect my hair from the sun, especially on beach days.
it's grown about 2.5 inches in the last 3 months (measurements taken post-trim so it probably grew more) so I'm hoping I can grow it at least another 3.5-4 in the next six months. That's taking into consideration I have to trim every 3-3.5 months to keep the splits/scragglies away. Wish I didn't have to, but that's what happens with fine-textured hair, bah!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Looks like I'm going to make it by the end of year! :)

I really love this!! I wish I could do this :o How long is your hair now? I wish my hair wasn't a lot shorter in the back :( But it looks really nice, really!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi everyone
I'm trying to get to APL too.
I'm so convinced my hair is longer than it really is, I was surprised when I checked yesterday that I've got about 2 inches to go. I really thought I was just about there! My hair doesn't seem to be growing at all at the moment, or really slowly, despite all my efforts. And I thought my hair grew like grass!
On the question of updos, has anyone used one of those bun-makers that are made of wire covered with foam? You put your hair in the gap, squeeze it together, slide it down to the end of your hair and then roll it up and form a circle to make a chignon. It's like a sock bun for people (like me) who aren't very good at sock buns. It makes the most wonderful curls if you wear it at night and take it out the next morning. I've been wondering though if it dries the ends out - does anyone else have experience with this?
I wonder if I'll be APL by Christmas?

I have a hairagami which is the same sort of thing - I always find my ends get really dry after using it almost like the material sucks the moisture from my hair - I don't use it very often for that reason but when I do, I oil my ends (a lot) before using it & they tend to come out ok.
