Maybe lmao I bleached a part of my hair( the older
stuff) and dyed it red but I haven't touched anything else. Keeping natural hair is really hard for me

I sympathize. Changing up your hair with color is fun too. Back in the old days I used to dye my hair every month or so. Neighbors would joke about my husband being married to a different woman every month because I always looked different. But finally, I basically melted it off with bleach and that reduced me down to a few times a year, and then I tried henna in about my mid thirties and that never came out again and I had to cut it all off, and then I just got frustrated with always trying to get my hair color to look just right with dye and eventually I stopped dyeing it. I still get urges every once in a while, but it's just not worth the hassle to me anymore. So, you never know! Maybe down the road, when it's time for you, you will have natural hair for longer if that's what you want.

Who knows lol I'm getting into my late 30s now and the dying urges are as strong as ever

Well... it is a lot of fun. And dying your hair fun colors has no age limit. We have an elderly woman that I see at the local library a lot, and her hair is dyed purple to match her purple sneakers. :)

Yes! Its so hard to just dye the regrowth. I had trouble with that! But I know people can do it. We used to have a thread around here somewhere that was for members who had long hair and dyed /bleached it. It had lots of good tips as I remember.

Oh, yeah thats probably the best way to go about it. I only got my hair dyed by a professional twice and both times were to go blonde. I didn't want to try that myself. I had some... mishaps when I used to try.
Today I measured my hair and its 23.5 inches. The same length as it was before my trim last month! Yay! Only lost about a month of progress.
Also I realized that a big part of my haircutting urge is feeling the lack of a creative outlet, or feeling unfulfilled or like I am just stuck in the mundane of every day life. I started a creative project and the desire to cut my hair seems to have diminished greatly since I did. It's like I just need somewhere to direct my creative energy and one of my defaults is my hair. So I thought I would share that in case anyone struggles with the same thing.

That's an interesting self discovery. Its nice to hear you found a outlet.
I've been thinking about urges to cut that I've seen mentioned here. I've never had much of an urge to cut length, but layers... that is another thing. I like hair that looks maintained, freshly cut layers or precision bobs. However, I feel luckily as its not a big urge for me. I just keep thinking about how I want my hair to look at BSL and beyond, I dont think layers will be helpful.

That's great! I know I have hardly any hair left my urges to cut it further has disipated atm which is great. I just can't seem to leave my hair alone after scissors touch it. So no Scissors! I'm aiming for length over style these days, bit we will see how that changes when the new awkward stage begins

You can always get the layers when you reach bsl as a reward
