Welcome to All of the newcomers of this thread as well.
Just like for everyone else here, SL to APL is the biggest distance and probably biggest milestone ever. Not just because the distance is ridiculously large, but also because beyond this point my hair starts looking Actually Long. :)
I am only a few months away from it though and the wait is getting really painful hahaha.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I agree, Stray! This is a long milestone but a good one - APL feels so different from shoulder. And beyond that point the hair starts to feel and look long, at least by most non-LHC standards. Also, once you've done this milestone the next feel shorter! At least on me, it's not so far to BSL, and from there not so far to waist.
Speaking of which, I am sooo close... I think the longest bit is there when straight, but I want a solid APL before I call the milestone, so I will wait until the end of the month at least, maybe a bit longer. I'm a bit annoyed with my layers as from the front my hair is like an inch away from APL but I'm not going to start evening my hemline up yet. I want all my length for now, lol. Besides I like a bit of layering and non-blunt hemline on longer hair.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
raemarthe - lovely shiny whirlyness
I think I am safe to claim APL ish – still sort of teetering around the edges, the fronts defo there, the rest depends on how straight / wavey my hair is / what angle my head is at.
Stray – Mind- hang in there – it’ll reach it before you know it! Totally agree this is it – now I feel hair can be considered long! Maybe the short end of long as far as the knee growers are concerned – but it does pony tails n plaits etc. and it’s only gonna keep growing longer
However Not had a hair cut /trim in 18 months starting to feel the need for one. It’s grown out of any style & with the length its starts to look a little flat.
My whirls are more waves with a whirl at the end.
Yes it’s a risk but if I get my usual guy I can normally trust him to listen & do a good job and not shave everything off. love the pampering niceness of the hair dressers and usually get a style that grows out nicely for at least the first 6 months & hopefully it’ll help make my hair look a little thicker again & be in better condition.
probably book something now for like May – that will stave off the twitchy need to cut in the meantime and give me something to look forward to. might have an extra inch or two hair by then & plenty of time to cancel or put it forward.
Not used to hair being even this ‘long’ so it’s a bout to get tricky on the looking after stakes.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
aerya - sames! just wobblin on the edges of APL. The only time you really know for sure that youve hit a milestone is when your desperately pondering whether or not you've hit the next one.
If you're thinking am I at APL it's kinda sorta there if definitely looks there from this angle? Then at least you know youve definietly surpassed collar bone!
When it's tickling your BSL its definitely past safe to call APL!

You are so close!
I think my hair is around 2 inches away from APL when stretched. But i wanna get there unstretched.
Due to my layers, my hair in the front is already past APL and moving towards BSL. But when i trim in summer, i will even it all out, i think.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Aerya, you've got lovely hair:) I'm the same with milestones having to be solid. Otherwise, the name of the length itself doesn't feel satisfactory, almost like it's cheating(even though it's not). It's the difference between "longest hairs are reaching APL" and "definitely APL"
OhSuzi 18 months sounds like a long time! It's been four months since my last trim, but I'm on the 2019 no-trimming challenge, so it'll be 16 months soon enough. How are your ends doing? It's good that you have a hairdresser you can trust

Thank you! Yeah, I just want a very solid, passing the towel test APL before I call it. I always feel like I am cheating with pics too - it's too easy to accidentally add an inch or so! I took ten pictures before accepting that as my actual length, lol. Besides I feel like a very solid APL looks very different from just barely sort of there.
OhSuzi, that is so true lol! I'm just glad I am solidly past CBL - it's suuuuch an awkward length for me. Like I definitely needed a good chop but I regret going all the way there. I was gradually cutting off a bit at a time but then I watched a tv series where one of the characters had this adorable wavy shoulder-grazing bob and without considering that she has completely different hair from me from the looks of it, I chopped. *facepalms*
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Like many others, shoulder to APL is the longest stretch for me. When I reach APL I might stay at that length for a bit since there are some layers that desperately need catching up. It all depends though on how things look.
