Haha thanks! It has been quite a bit, and FINALLY a net positive, so that's nice! I just miss my super nice 1"/mo rate still so I'm just salty about that

Six months! My hair now is where my avatar pic cuts off. I purposely sized the pic so it cuts off at APL.
Congrats on the French braid success!
Wow six months! I thought that woulda been me, but nope
That's actually really cool. Are you going to do the same for BSL and so on? And yeah, the world (of avatars and sigs) is your oyster!

My hair has always grown fast. Sometimes it'll grow a bit slower. I average 1"/mo. I just do the best I can to maximize my growth rate by taking good care of myself and my hair.
I'm also taking advantage of my growth rate by taking part in the no trim challenges. My trim cycle is usually 1" every 6 months. I've never gone this long without a trim before and my hair seems to be handling it surprisingly well! So well in fact that I'm skipping the trim I was planning on getting at the end of this years challenge and just jumping right into next years. I was telling lapushka in another thread that I'll probably trim between the '18 and '19 challenges though. I wouldn't be comfortable going THAT long without a trim
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Oh, lol, remember a short while back all the talk about flippy ends? I was looking at a few pics of when my hair was MBL and noticed the very ends still did that. It NEVER bothered me though. I just thought that was funny  Maybe blunt ends just do that, even at that length :hmm:
ETA: I had an idea. There's this hair cutters technique where they make the under-layer just a tad bit shorter so that the ends of the hair curl under a bit. I'm thinking there were times my hair dresser didn't do this and the results were flippy ends. Like I said, it never bothered me! :D

A lot of the times, my flippy ends are a result of how my braid is tied off!

I've always thought mine grew very fast as well, but now I'm wondering if all the times I've ever paid attention were in the summer anyway. It'd make sense, for me, to notice my hair growth more when it's a bit higher.
But if I do have a summer growth spurt, that's still at least one full extra inch a year and I'm not gonna complain about it!

I'm trying to think of when I'll even out the last semi-invisible underlayer of my hair. Since I know it's there now, it bothers me a little bit. It doesn't make much of a difference in styles or anything, but it's there and I know it. I'm thinking maybe waist would be good? I've never really been a big "regular trimmer", so just leaving it be that long is fine, but I do really want to get rid of it at some point... Maybe after the 2018 no-trim...
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I've been so busy lately that I seem to never had time to check in here, you've all gotten so far!
I received some things I bought on etsy and couldn't resist trying out the LI unicorn horn hair stick I got, I tried to do a "inverted cinnabun" (I can not remember if that's the correct name) and it worked in the first try! I really was not expecting it to stay up and feel secure at this length, and with only a hair stick! Maybe the design of the unicorn horn makes it better like that, I'm not sure but it's possible because it feels like I "screwed it in".
I think this might be a new go-to for now, looks almost like a big bun from the side as well, which I like :bluebiggr

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I was able to get my hair into 2 French braids and they stayed on intact and no pieces fell out. My scalp is getting sore from having to keep it pulled back in a bun at work every day, so I'm going to try braiding it once I get off to give it a break. I'll have to try to get pictures next time.

I can't seem to find a video tutorial on how to do it. I like the fact that it looks big, relaxed and feminine
