Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hey guys! I'm eons away from this thread but you're exactly who I need to consult!
Have any of you tried to do double buns ("space buns") at shoulder length?
I just figured out I can do a half up with double ponytails at this super-short length, so that got me thinking.
I'm about a year away from shoulder, give or take. I'm really excited about the prospect of a good updo...

Well one day I was home and gave it a good sulfate scrub while on vacation in someone else's shower, and my hair was suddenly much more manageable! I guess I have to do it to clarify sometimes... now I expect/hope I might not need a trim for at least 3-4 more months!
Does anyone struggle with this, or are others ok doing modified CGM and keeping sulfates away from hair entirely? Or am I misinterpreting CGM? (I have 2b hair but it has not been curling at all lately either...)
I think it is fine to clarify on occasion, some people find it beneficial. My hair doesn’t like it, when I tried clarifying.
Also, there are sulfate free clarifying shampoos.

Almost there. Fighting urges to trim.

I'll have to check out the sulfate free clarifiers, thanks!

I tried it at shoulder length, but had to use some bobby pins in the back. It's a very cute look, though :)

I have not but more power to ya! At shoulder length you can definitely do some space buns, especially with fine hair but even with medium hair.

Thanks giraff and plonter!
I'm so excited :D
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
For three nights, I've been practicing putting my hair up with a stick, but it will not hold :( Probably because of the thickness. Looking forward to being able to do it - I think it's such a cool look!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Speaking of hair styles and tools, I got a claw clip recently and I can really recommend it. It stays up and when I take the clip out, not a single piece of hair goes with it (in contrast to hair ties where I always lose some hair). I can't put it up with sticks yet but this works really well :D
