I think I'm just about at my mini-goal of APL. Maybe it just looks that way from the angle the photo was taken at, but I'm happy with the growth I've had, in any case.

Hey, Jaine. My layers are also from chin to just past shoulder. What I did so they aren't chunky, but a bit more blended, was cut between the smallest layer (chin) and the longest (shoulder). It doesn't lose length at all, just looks more well put together. I did it myself, I separated the ones I wasn't going to cut, the middle ones I lifted and cut at an angle. Isn't hard at all, you can cut 1/5 of an inch at a time, which I think it might be enough for you. Like the last pics in this:

I'm looking for new ideas too. Usually my styles are sock bun, half up, sides up with combs/cute clips, tails up, pony-tails. I can do a french twist but I don't like it so much, I like messy casual styles. Piggy-tails only around the house. :D
Yippeeee; I finally made it to this category!!! It seemed to take forever to reach shoulder length from chin length; will it feel the same to get to APL from shoulder?!?!
I am also feeling frustrated with this length. My remaining layers are also getting to me. It is okay if it is down or if it is up but if I try to braid it. Oh man. It is SO awful. Pieces escaping, the end of the braid is SO thin because of the layers. Argh!!!!
I think that I am just not going to braid for another year or so. This bugs me because I love braids so much.
I just keep thinking, two years from now it will all be worth it.
I've been at shoulder length for about 3 months now and I'm not frustrated with it... yet. ;)
I'd like to start taking some supplements and see if that helps my hair grow because I feel like it grows exceptionally slowly. I have friends who started growing their hair out at the same time from me from about the same length and they are nearly at APL. I'm hoping to be there by my birthday in June. :)
Nae, I have the same philosophy to help me remain patient. 2 more years and it'll all be worth it.
Mine seems to be taking forever to inch down too. A few days ago I cut nose-length bangs to distract myself.:o
I'm trying different updos, twists, braids, interlocking hair combs &,on some days, scarves. Again anything to help the time pass.
Can I join? I did a trim (chop rather) the other day that put me back at just below shoulder.. Havent measured yet.. tho :)
Your hair looks beautiful and it definitely looks like APL to me!! :cheese:
Did you trim the back much after your pixie? My layers look similar to yours (but mine are about 1 year shorter, and yours don't stick out in odd directions like mine do!)
I've been looking for a good moment to take a picture of my layer frustration but it has been behaving nicely for me the past few days, oddly. lianna that is a nice picture, I actually have that kind of layering in my hair already, I think my hair either needs to be cut with a much higher elevation (i.e., combed straight up instead of combing it out to the side, so that the layers are even more pronounced) or maybe keeping the existing shape but making the ends more wispy with thinning or a razor or just leaving it alone for a few years... I'm not sure what to do. but I know my hair needs less "chunkiness" at the ends. and more wispiness.
I'm hoping that 1 year of not trimming it at all will give me more wispy ends.
