I'm more determined now, and instead of getting there via neglect (not even benign neglect, since I was just ignoring it), I plan to get there with some extra care on top of benign neglect.
Plus I've got a couple forks, a stick, and three big clips to keep my hair up comfortably when not in a scrunchie!! Definitely helpful IMO.
Thanks :) Yes, I'll definitely need to get some hair sticks. Before the LHC I've never seen people use sticks to put up their hair. Didn't think it'd be so easy and quick!

I'd not thought about that use for them, but that's a really good point. BTW, I love your measuring shirt, so useful!

Welcome and hi! Happy growing :happydance:

And it does! It no longer looks like a bun or anything, but of course not it's tiny lol. Some nape hairs dropped out, but they can't really reach anyway.
This clip is so nice and comfy. I love it so much.
That clip sounds lovely, do you have a pic? I've been using rounded claw clips lately, and I love them. They don't feel like they're squashing my hair, like other clips I've tried, and they're so secure.

Hang in there everyone!
Go you! :joy:

Totally! Last time I grew my hair out, I remember it being a massively long slog where I saw no progress until one day I was at the library waiting for an assistant to fetch someone to help me, and I heard her describe me as 'the lady with the long hair', and then I realised that yeah, wow, it got long. I think it must have been BSL at that point or maybe mid back. I definitely spent ages giving myself sideways glances in shop windows trying to see how long it looked after that!
This time it doesn't feel like so much of a slog yet. I really appreciate the smaller goals along the way, and taking photos (even as inconsistent as I currently do!) has helped so far to see progress. I figure I'll see less progress now I've hit shoulder though, so I need to get better at pics!

Yes! Here are the three I have:

This is akurah's pic from RAOK.
Here's the action shot I posted in ROAK when I got them, on dirty hair haha:

(sorry it's huge!)
And you can find them here or at Sally's according to their site. Mine are the large size. At least, i'm 90% sure these are the same ones, there's no info on them or anything  But the springs on mine are suuuuper strong, and since that site is all "we use the strongest spring!", I figure it's a good bet they're the same brand! It took me a little bit to get used to opening them, the springs are so tough! But all the better because they won't come out without me wanting them to.

Thank you! I'm also working on a pros and cons as well as a style list for each length. Obsessive? Maybe, but still useful.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Corvana Oh wow, they're so lovely! They're bigger than I expected from the initial pic, and they look great in use :D Thanks for the link too! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed they have a UK supplier. That's definitely going on the wishlist.
likelikepenny Sounds super useful to me!

You and me both!! I asked akurah if I'd be able to use a couple to hold a bun, because I thought they were like the size of a small claw clip, and she took a picture for me with her using them like "technically, but you won't need to"
I also found them on amazon, so you could maybe try there? They had other brands as well, and lots of patterns and stuff.

Welcome and happy growing! I'm getting real good at benign neglect myself :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Does anyone know how long this flippy stage lasts? It's so annoying

With my hair, it lasts until like APL for sure. And it looks so terrible!! I stretched the front of my hair, and it's definitely CBL now. Stretched it out loosely and it hit! But if I leave it how it dries? Doesn't even touch my shoulders :disgust:

I'm not sure. My hair is about an inch past CBL and is still doing that, although not nearly as bad as when it was SL.
