The top is a bit bulky; I should have changed. Thanks, my dear. :)

I have tried a towel test but every time I lifted the mirror to see behind me the towel drooped (small bust problems lmao)
Thank you Nymphe! Freshly washed hair plus summer sunshine is a good mix lol
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Can I just take a moment here to rhapsodize about how wonderful I think this length is? Here are the reasons I love it and plan to stick with this length for the foreseeable future:
1) It's so versatile! I can still get it into a ponytail, french twist, or peacock twist if I want to wear it up, but I can comfortably wear it down. After years of dowdy buns and unreliable braids (pulling, sagging, unraveling, swinging around and bothering me), I usually wear it down. I only wear it up for working out or cleaning.
2) I can still do twin dutch or french braids, also 2-strand twists, and the resulting braid waves look fantastic.
3) It easily takes and keeps a curl from my hot rollers or sponge rollers and looks wonderful. I don't worry about the hot rollers because they aren't so hot I can't handle them with bare hands, plus I'm getting regular trims. I don't use flat or curling irons.
4) It only takes about 15-20 minutes to blow-dry my hair, and it looks gorgeous.
5) Air drying is pretty, too.
6) Most mornings I can roll out of bed and get going without doing a thing to my hair, and it looks fine. Sometimes I have to run wet fingers or a wet brush through it to get rid of sleep creases, but that's quickly and easily enough done.
7) Being a lob (long bob), it's modern. After years of looking old-fashioned, I really appreciate being in step with current fashion because I'm looking for a job. I want to be seen as vibrant if not young, not ready for social security and the retirement home.
Fellow long hair lovers, if you haven't been appreciating this length, reappraise. You have a treasure there!
History: The last time I was at this length (between collarbone and APL), I didn't appreciate it because all I could think was "must grow longer". I grew all the way out to classic length, and it looks great in pictures, but the reality was that about 7 inches of ends were trashed. There were thousands of split ends that I could never get under control. Every time I sat in good light, I could always find more no matter how much time I spent on S&D missions, how many inches I trimmed back, how many deep conditioning treatments I did, how often I oiled it, or how often I kept my hair in "protective" updos (at least 90% of the time). There were some strategies recommended to me that I never tried (SO, WO) or tried but didn't stick with (catnip rinses). Finally between October and December, I cut back - first to between waist and hip (still thousands of split ends), then to between BSL and waist (hundreds of split ends), finally to collarbone (I have no idea about split ends at this length) where I found my happy place.

Great post spidermom! I'm sad to say that I was very anxious to get through this phase and didn't enjoy it the way I should have. There are so many great things about this length.

While I'm happy for you and anyone else who feels this way, I would just like to add that the benefits aren't solely because of your hair length. It is a YMMV thing. The texture of my hair means that, for example, I can't roll out of bed and do nothing to it, and have it look good, nor can I blow dry it and it looks gorgeous. I'd love my hair to be like that, but it's just not, and never will be, regardless of length.

Could be that, could be you're being too hard on yourself, could be you have much more particular ideas of what constitutes great-looking hair as compared to me. I used to only like mine perfectly straight and smooth, but I've come to appreciate lots of texture and movement.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I hit APL a long time ago. But now I'm at that point where I'm tired of staying there. Guys, be prepared to get frustrated. APL to BSL feels like the longest trek.
Though it does feel good when you finally get there!

I'd love smooth, but it's not going to happen.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
And I'm calling it...finally lol. Trekking onward to BSL
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Yeah, spidermom, I agree with you that the CBL-APL "in-between" lengths are a blessing, not a curse, for a lot of people. I could see where some textures aren't so friendly at this length, but it's a popular length out in the "trendy" world for a reason--it's generally attractive, versatile, and comfortable.
I'm in no rush to get past this length. If my hair wants to, I'll let it, but no plans.
Oh, and congratulations, DoomKitty!
