Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Unzadi certainly they do! I love braided pigtails, in my view they look way better when the hair is short, look more cute and the waves when you take them out are simply gorgeous, of course the braiding is easier with longer hair, but nowhere near as cute :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I felt the need of getting rid of my layers, so I'm back to shoulder again
Now I'll see if I can make it to APL without trimming. Damn, growing out dye + long hair is a looong journey...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
LaisB, short braided pigtails are the best. Uber-cute, with the ends at or just above shoulders, and the resulting waves can't be beat. Super cool in the temperature sense in hot weather, too. Not quite the same cute effect at almost APL, but I can do milkmaid braids now, so there's that. Every length has its perks, but dang, SL pigtails do win in cute.

Never mind the little blue marks and huge picture, I'm still trying to figure this forum thing out. heheh.

Every length has its plusses and minuses, that's for sure. I will get a picture of the milkmaid braids next time I wear them. Super comfortable, classic, and they stsy put until I want them down. Should be useful when it comes time for hats and scarves this winter. I look forward to finding out what updos and braids I can do with this length. I did a high ponytail the other day, which I haven't since my hair was at shoulder, and was pleasantly surprised how swishy it was. Not as bouncy as at shoulder, but swush for bounce is a good trade.

Hi Elfa! It's good to see you over here. Your hair looks amazing without the layers. Good decision. :)

I do trims but the amount I have to cut off basically gets rid of my new growth, and my hair doesn't like protein :(
But thank you for the advice :)

And it is easier to drown it in oil that way :D Of course entle handling helps, too, and maybe, if one is ok with using it, something with cones for detangling/protection during handling/wearing it down
. I tried to eliminate damaging things* as much as possible while still trying not to do too much and from now on, it's mostly sticking to this, cutting only when necessary, and a whole lot of patience.
Sorry if this was not very helpful for you, but I tried to and express that I feel your situation and you are not alone with it. :)
*which can be surprisingly many of the "good" things: The Tangle Teezer, BBB and Henna all make my hair break and split like crazy, and rinsing with ACV is sort of "meh", but necessary because of the hard water here
It was helpful, thank you and yeah I cut out heat, chemical dyes and sulfates but I have to trim every month :(
