Hi!!! Welcome to LHC and the thread :D I used to think I was a slow grower too, but then I started giving myself daily scalp massages and I'm allllllllmost APL after a shaggy pixie in August :agape: Using a mixture of oils in my massages probably helped too :)

Hi and welcome :D
You'll figure things out soon enough and then probably become very lazy like i am now :p. I'm sure you've checked this out, but this thread has some links to useful newbie-information you might want to check out if you're looking for specific information about CO or anything else :)
I think i will send an e-mail to nightblooming, just to ask about the color-changing sticks :) if she says no, it's all the better for my budget, and if she says yes, then awayl with my budget :D

I always watch my chips like a hawk, because I like them plain with mayo :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi everybody! I took a picture of my hair yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that I'm only less than an inch shy of APL! So excited - as it was a really looooooooooooong growing period for me: more than a year (( I guess next month I'll be officially at APL.
Happy growing to everyone!

are you kidding?! holy cow! I'll need more info on that. I love using oils on my skin (castor and coconut are my favorites!) and I would love to speed things up! How long did you massage for?
I have lost a few days to this site, reading, reading, reading. I am excited to start CO tonight. I found a few different methods. I think I'll do coconut oil in my hair tonight and braid it down. Then if I'm understanding correctly, warm water, conditioner (left in for 10 minutes or so) rinse, shampoo ONLY the scalp and then a cool rinse?
I'll get the hang of it. I swear.
I'm someone that always wears my hair up because I hate the way it feels and looks down-it's so thin and sparse! I lost a lot of it before being diagnosed with celiac disease. That was 8 years ago and it's slowly getting a little thicker. Volume wise I have less than a quarter of what I did.
I tried no poo, but that did not do my hair any favors! Made it brittle and dry. Now I'm back on SLS free poo and conditioner, but it doesn't leave my hair feeling awesome. Not bad, but not awesome.
Anyway...looking forward to speaking with you knowledgeable peeps!

I think you should. Like I said before it doesn't hurt to try. Please keep us updated, I think I might order one but in a custom design if she's the type willing to take custom orders.:D

yummy!:pizza: Any shops you'd recommend over there that sell good hair sticks. I used to go to Octopus for cute accessories, but I don't remember if they sell sticks or hair stuff.

Yes keep on wearing your hair up! I've noticed a big difference in how my ends feel. Especially if I were to coconut oil my hair and then bun it, when i unravel my bun before going to bed it feels nice and moist, and my ends feel silky smooth for a change. Of course I've been wearing my hair up for almost a month now. You should also check out the "Wear your hair up for a month" thread. It's nice to get ideas of up-dos over there for days when you are running out of ideas or if you need ideas.
No poo for me dried out my hair so I can relate with you on that note! Have you tried SMT yet?
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
no, I haven't even heard of that one yet. Nice! I will check out that thread, thank you. I sock bun almost every day-but I do a cheat with one of the donut things. I have a crown braid today, but generally it's just a sock bun!

Ooooooh I'm wearing a double french braid. I'd love to see your crown braid! Any chance you can show us your pic? I'll post mine if you do. LOL how long did it take you? I've always wanted to try that braid but feel intimidated by it.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'll try to figure out posting a photo. I LOVE playing with hair. I do crown braids on my daughter all the time which is how I figured it out. It only took about 8 minutes.
The biggest turning point was figuring out how to hold my hands. I was holding them as though I was braiding on someone else's head. I used to try to braid behind my head, if that makes any sense. It was always a disaster on my right side. Then I realized I could braid in front of my shoulder and it was MUCH easier. The only hard part is changing direction.
I think it's easier for me because I have very little hair. :p

Thanks for the tips! I know i'll probably have a hard time at first, but I know it's all about practice. I also like to play with hair because I grew up with two sisters. Now that I'm growing out my hair I can finally play with my own hair anytime. Such a luxury we have as a longhair.:) I'll probably attempt the crown braid using the basic French as opposed to the Dutch or herringbone braid. Oooh thanks for your tip! I think i'll attempt that tomorrow. I'm so excited! Thanks, you made my day.:D
