BTW, how do you use the oil, jtsck?
I have it in a pump top bottle so I put about 2-3 pumps (my hair is thick). I start at the ends of my hair and finger comb it in slowly.I have found that the right amount of oil creates waves in my hair that have fallen out with brushing and wear. If I go past that look, it won't all be gone in the morning.
Last weekend, I soaked my entire head in oil and left it for 36 hours. I went out looking all gross but my DH said I just looked like I had wet hair. After I CWC'd that out, I realized I really do have 2c hair which was a shock.
I also put shea butter on my ends after I wash. They feel very tacky after that so I roll my hair up so the ends are inside and then wrap a towel around it.I found that the tackiness was gone after about 20 minutes.

I'm in New England, also. I've had to order most stuff online, and there's also a Sally's nearby.
A question for everyone! Can anyone use hairsticks yet? And what length are you at?
I'm thinking of waiting until I reach APL or a little bit past and having a pair of sticks custom made. :D I still have a few layers that are roughly shoulder length, and they pop out when I try to make a bun.

Goodnight everyone! I'll check and reply to all of you tomorrow.

Ohhh I want to try this because it has real mimosa floral wax in it. What does it smell like?

I was thinking of adding it to my shampoo and massaging it into my scalp. I'm tempted to try shea butter, but I don't know if I could get past putting something so thick into my hair. All the shea butter I've seen is fairly thick and gooey.

I'm at 17.5/18 depending on how my hair is feeling when I measure. I don't have enough to put it up, but I have enough that it gets in my face all the time >.<

Sort of orange and minty. I really like the smell of it, personally. :)

Hmm you might be close to me then. Yes I'm going to wait until APL to go crazy with buying hair toys. As of now, I've spent money on the TT, hair claw (butterfly clip), pony ties and scunci clip on barretts.

Hmm... I'm at 20" now, and I've been able to do twin braids for awhile. Have you tried that?
ETA: I still have layers popping out of them, and they're not very long or anything yet... but it certainly got the hair out of my face!

I'm about an inch and a half away from APL and I use hair sticks as decorative elements when I do Gibson tucks. Whenever I try to do a bun with a working hair stick I get lots of ends flying out and the bun is either way too tight or so loose that it doesn't hold.

I just tried. My hair is layered too, and it's the shorter layers that are closer to chin length that get in the way, and they don't get in the twin braids :(
