Shoulder | Armpit

Hi! Nice to meet you all, I'll be joining this thread for a while. I hit shoulder length a little over a year ago and I've had only one trim since then, so I'm hoping to get to APL before the end of the summer. I think that should be about the same time as a few of you so it's nice to see we'll be growing together :)

Guess I am ready to move onto this thread! Just posted my update in chin to shoulder, but my hair has definitely reached shoulder this month or last. Can't WAIT to get past APL. Nice to meet all of you, looking forward to grow together :)

Joining the shoulder-to-armpit crew... I also have a lot of bleach to grow out :( I'll try to post a photo soon.

I am joining this thread. I had hip length hair until May when I cut it just above shoulder length due to protein overload/being fried from too much henna use. I have a bit of it still on my ends but got most of the damage cut out. I have stopped all henna and indigo at this time.

My end goal is to be back at hip, but healthy this time. My hair is quite wavy/curly so the growth seems to take forever but I am hoping to be back at hip by the end of 2026.

That's strange. Henna and indigo cannot damage hair... if you use too much you will just get darker colour and looser wave pattern at least. But "fried"? Thats a job only bleach and heat styling can do:rolleyes:
Protein overload can be fixed too without need of cutting hair. It seems that your chop wasn't necessary... but of course now it's too late.

Thanks for the information. I do not heat style and had only been using henna for 10ish years. As far as "fried" it was breaking off and thinning so this is why I ended up cutting. I know for most people henna is safe and a great option but I think my hair just became too overloaded and no amount of moisturizing mask were helping. It seemed the damage had already been done. I have read accounts of others who have had this issue with henna, and I am in no way advocating against it. I have just decided to stop using it on myself after this.

Could it have been product buildup instead? Did you use to clarify your hair from time to time with a harsh sulfate shampoo back then? I have no experience with henna nor indigo myself so I don’t know how they can behave if you keep building them up, just troubleshooting out of interest in case you encounter something similar in the future. :)

Hi guys, just posting my milestones.. just measured my hair, about 52,5 cm. So about 1,5 cm a month... wish it would do 3 cm a month xD. Trying to wear it up as much as I can. Happy growing all!

I just measured my hair and I'm at 59cm. APL is about 60cm on me so I am definitely super close!
