Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
This is not a perfect like-with-like comparison (the photo from last month has braidwaves, and the one from today has brushed-out floofy braidwaves, plus I'm a different distance from the camera in each!), but I think I've had some ok growth over the last month!

It's still a wide expanse between where I am and APL, but I'm going to savour this good feeling - I always feel like it's not growing at all, so it's nice to see some proof that it is!
I've just got back from a little holiday to the Isle of Skye, where the wind whipped my hair out of every braid and bun I attempted to put it in. I think I looked like a bit of a frizzy mess, but I kind of loved the feeling of having hair blowing wildly all over the place. Skye definitely feels like a place full of fairies and other Celtic magic (we actually swam in the Fairy Pools! Icy cold, but so beautiful), so it was nice to feel like my hair is slooooowly growing into something approaching my Celtic princess fantasy!

I must have a lot of breakage, which while disappointing wouldn't be surprising. Two years ago I got highlights (my hair doesn't like bleach at all) so my longest bits are still bleached. I also feel like my hair gets wrecked while sleeping but I don't know what else to do besides satin pillowcases. It's not really long enough to braid and even if I did, it wouldn't stay in a braid.
It's probably going to take me another year to get to APL. Grrr.
No, not breakage; remember you just trimmed and it is very very hard to stay within an inch all over, so it also kind of depends on where exactly you cut & measured.
Hair that short does not need trims that often, unless there's remaining bleach or dye, and even that you can grow out fine without too many trims in between (Ylva comes to mind).
I would just keep growing!

Thanks, secret soup! Oh my goodness, I would be so happy if it did! I probably should have fully submerged my head to get maximum magical benefit, but it was SO COLD, I couldn’t bring myself to!

Thank you for your insight! I did get highlights 2 years ago so my ends have a bit of bleach damage and other than minor S&D, I went a full year between my last cut and this trim attempt. Keep on growing indeed. Friday night I went to a wedding and it seemed every female there had the length of hair I wish for. I'll keep at it!

Drop Stitches, looking good! That's noticeable growth. I need to get myself a proper measuring shirt.

Thanks, InTheCity! It definitely helps having a garment to make growth obvious, or else I wouldn't believe it was growing at all! Have you got any stripy tops you could use?

You can really see the growth! I love the picture of you with your hair windblown! So fun to have hair that actually CAN be windblown! :)
I'm actually pretty happy with my current hair length. It's finally below 80 degrees here and I have worn my hair down partly for at least a couple of days. I'm already looking forward to my next trim to thicken up the ends, and if I stayed right around this length I think I would be happy for a while. It's a pretty flattering length for me. And I think a lot of people. I realized today that its now the same length as one of my goal pictures from my previous long hair life that I felt like I would never reach so that's exciting.

It is very fun having the possibility to be windblown!
And I completely agree - I think collarbone to APL is a very flattering length. Also, how exciting to have met one of your goals! Your hair looks gorgeous in your sig pic

DropStitches,
Great growth you are having there. Also, I love the pic of you around the Islands....you look like you are having such fun and happiness. Keep it up!!!
