Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I need to vent a bit. I swear my hair is feeling shorter (even before my tiny trim last night) so I just had my hubs measure me. I'm back at 19" despite my last measurement 2 months ago being 20".
I must have a lot of breakage, which while disappointing wouldn't be surprising. Two years ago I got highlights (my hair doesn't like bleach at all) so my longest bits are still bleached. I also feel like my hair gets wrecked while sleeping but I don't know what else to do besides satin pillowcases. It's not really long enough to braid and even if I did, it wouldn't stay in a braid.
It's probably going to take me another year to get to APL. Grrr.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
InTheCity I can sympathise... When I was first joined here I was also growing and trimming out bleach damage at the same time. Its a slow process but rewarding as the damage gets snipped away.
The only other sleep style I can think of is a pineapple. Its likely that some of your hair wont make it in. But most of it will be up out of the way. So some will be protected.
I wish you fast and health hair growing vibes :flower:

Do you mean a single braid? I have the same problem with those but I found that pigtail braids work just fine.

Thanks for the encouragement. It never occurred to me to place it on the very top of my head. I'll try it!

Yes, single braid. I haven't tried pigtails but I still have very little at the ends so would need to secure them somehow. Tonight I'll try pineapple and see how it goes. If no dice, I'll try pigtails.

Gahhh I’m sorry you’re having such a frustrating time! I don’t have much to offer beyond sympathy and seconding the suggestions of pigtails (my hair escapes from a single braid, but stays in pigtails) and pineappling.

Sure!

Im sorry. When I first joined here I was growing out bleach and I kept having to trim it. It felt like it would never grow! But it did.
Did the pineapple end up helping you? I can put my hair in pigtail braids very early on in the growing process. I used ribbon hair ties for overnight. Maybe try those?
I measured my hair wet after a shower today and it was about 23 inches. So, I think I lost a little less than half an inch with that trim. Not too bad, but I really need to be at 24 inches wet to be at (edited) APL not BSL! dry and wavy, typically. My goal is December.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Thanks for letting me vent, all. I tossed my hair in a messy bun with a telephone cord style hair tie straight at the top of my head a la pineapple before I went to bed last night. Some nape hair didn't reach but most did. By morning, a little more hair was loose but the majority stayed put.
Now I have to remember to do this nightly, since I'm used to wearing it loose.
ReadingRenee Do you mean 24 wet to APL? Just curious. My bra sits way further down so I'd have to be far longer but 24 wet would probably be my perfect APL.

Yes! I meant APL! Hah only in my fantasies would BSL be 24 inches. Wishful typing.
