Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So I did a bit of backtracking 2 days ago. Lately, my hair has been fighting so badly to do updos of almost any kind. I finally realized it was because of all my layers and the badly wispy ends I had. I decided to do a micro trim, but after that I realized I had to do more. Ended up taking off about 1.5 inches, but my hair is behaving a little better now. Its just so hard to go back like that :( My dreams of hitting BSL by the end of summer are out now, I'd be happy getting past APL by the end of summer now.

Awww, it's okay. Getting to long hair from shoulder is a long journey and we're all gonna backtrack at some point. As long as you're not getting too scissor happy and jeopardizing your progress all the time, I'm sure you're fine. I bet your hair is healthier now?
I should follow my own advice actually because I'm debating whether or not to go the "no trimming" route. I'm gonna try to distract myself with the cassia treatment and with getting my hair oiled and stuff :o
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Wow! I must have a long neck or something, because my APL is ~23 inches. It looks like a lot of you gals will get there at 21? Count me as jealous, haha. :) Ah well...maybe the rest will seem faster after this hurdle. I've been trying to avoid the forums so I don't go crazy!

I do think the rest will seem faster. This stage is THE WORST in my opinion. I want to reach APL in the back, but I really want those front pieces to hang slightly over the shoulders, then I'll "feel" long.

I think APL will be beyond 21 inches for me too. Once there I'll feel like my hair is long. For me that is what makes this length hard- I don't feel like I have long hair yet :(

But now I'll definitely keep going with this kind of trim, seeing your results! I have a ton of layers to grow out! Thanks again!
You are most welcome Ma'am! It was my first video, I'm glad I didn't bomb it completely! :D

Very welcome my friend! Thank you for the hair compliment :p I hope you enjoy trying it out and love it as much as I do!

I've been bummed because it's gonna be FOREVER until my hair is APL. I think I'm looking at September at the earliest. If I'm lucky. I'm hoping to be on the APL to BSL thread come January 2012. Do you gals and guys thinks that's possible?
Yeah, we are slow aren't we? But that's good for me because when I am absent without leave, lol, I can come back and look like I've kept up with the best of you! Ha! :D How have you been lately?

Anyway, I think I can officially say that my hair is at 19 inches, and APL is about 21 for me, maybe a little over. I think at the rate my hair has been growing I will hit the very tip of APL by August. My old bangs are just about an inch passed chin, but the rest of the front is just about as long as the back.
I had long hair my entire life until about five years ago when I hacked it all off. I remember i would cut six inches off when it would get too long and crazy, but it would grow back literally in no time. I'm hoping this is the case once I hit APL!
Pixiestar, your hair is so pretty and straight! I'm so jealous! Mine likes to flip all over the place, making it seem like it's growing ever so slowly
Yep, we should start a club:
The "I'm with stupid who had it and chopped it!" Club ------------>" or how about
The "Reaping What I Sow" Club! LOL Only kidding!
Were you happy with it for long after you chopped? My happiness was very short lived, no bun intended.

hi :D
i feel your frustration! i have been getting rid of damaged permed hair for a year and finally last week i had the final damage removed! because of the trims every few months my hair has gone from UBL to shoulder, UBL to shoulder etc etc
but now that my hair feels really healthy im soooo glad i stuck with it! Now i can grow! grow! grow! :D
hang in there hon. You'll get there!! i felt sooo good when the hairdresser said to me last week! 'okay thats all your damage gone and your hair looks really healthy'! :cheese:
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have not been able to wear my hair down in about a year due to horrible, sloppy layers. It will likely be one year more before I am comfortable letting people look at my hair. With it short and thin, it leaves me with very few choices in how to wear it.
To keep myself from doing something I would later regret, I have been doing my best to enjoy what I do have, and working to remedy that which I can't stand. I also found that using my favorite perfumes on my wrists while I do my hair keeps me in a better mood.
I keep reminding myself that I am almost 1/3 done toward my goal.
I can agree that it seems my hair is growing slower than usual now. Funny idea on the Reaping what I Sowed Club. Enter at your own RISC.

YES, this stage is the WORST! These $#^#&* short front bits that slip out of almost every $)(&# style I put them into are driving me CRAZY!! And the layers that sprout out of my ponytail like crabgrass - UGH! I think even crabgrass is more attractive. GGAAACCCKKK!! :justy:
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
This is definitely the worst stage:( I can't wait to get to Apl:D
