I can't decide how much I should trim in July? If I trim 1" I will be where I am now, what is a bit annoying, but I will have a thicker hemline. If I trim more I can get rid of the layers faster, but that is the only pro. I can think. If I trim less... Well, is there any benefit to trim less than an inch? What are you think?
Anyway, APL is still far, far away..

I think there's definitely a benefit to trimming less than an inch. When I started growing mine out, at my first two 6-monthly trims I asked her to take off 1cm max. It was nice because it kept my hemline thick, and after a month my hair felt like it was growing again. But last time I asked her to take off about an inch, and it felt like my hair didn't grow for nearly three months. It just made me feel like I had stalled, and it was super demoralising. Like yours, mine grows at an average rate (just over 1cm a month) and taking off over two months in one go was a bit much for me.

Lumienkeli My hair was a little shorter than yours when I started my journey. I totally get wanting to grow it out ASAP but for me it was unpleasant after awhile because my layers were all over the place. it was a long wait but I wanted to have a uniformed growth at the start. Especially since S&D changes things. I opted in for the whole year no trims after being in the 6 month one

I also have the triangle head problem! It was way worse when it was shorter, and it was one of the things that made me realise I really need to grow it out again. It's getting less triangle head and more 'oooh volume' now though, thank goodness!
Re. the colour, thank you so much! :blossom: I really love this colour range, and worked out that intentionally paler roots and deeper ends is just way easier to maintain than trying for the same intensity of colour throughout! It's lilac now - dyed it yesterday morning before work - but I have a feeling that'll fade pretty quickly. it helps blend my roots though, which is nice!
True about the volume. When I was a teenager I hated volume and my hair thickness, although that was mid 2000s which is when stick straight flatter looking hair was in style. I’m glad I gave up getting it thinned at hairdressers and using a flatiron religiously. My hair can breathe now and I’ve started to love it as it is and look forward to seeing how the shape of my hair changes as it grows.

I hated the way that it always looked so lovely when it was wet - so smooth and neat and tidy - but as soon as it dried it was this horrible mess no matter what I did with it. No-one around me had any idea how to deal with hair, and really it's only coming here that's helped me work out how to treat it well.

Wore rope braids for the first time yesterday, and I love them! I finally figured out how to get my hands to rotate the hair properly. It would have stayed in all day, but I had to re-do it at lunch because there was strong wind and I was outside a fair bit for work.

I used regular hair bands with no metal, but I'd like something a bit cuter and kinder to tie off the ends of braids. I'm thinking about trying something like Popband, but home-made.

It depends on if you want the layers gone more than the extra length first
For me it’s easier to grow out layers at a longer length
Just preparing you it will feel like FOREVER in an area that already feels like forever :(
Oh, yes, that is the question. I have my hair around shoulder length since 2013. Sometimes a bit longer, sometimes shorter, but always with heavy layers. Now it is just enough this shortiness, I want to go back to BSL-WL, where I was before. I would love to just let it grow until my ends are really needing a trim and maintine around BSL until I grow out the dye and the layers. I could be at BSL a bit more than a year without trims.
If I trim I could be get rid of dye and layers faster and start the long hair journey with fresh, thick hemline with all virgin hair.
I would love it too! What I want more? THAT is the question! :)
Anyways, both option takes forever! :)

Thank you. Well, 1 cm trim is really a tiny amount, but if it really plays in to keep the hemline even I might do it. I like this option.

I feel the pain of layers, yes. I can't make an english braid because my shortest layers are at chin length. I chopped half of my layers in december in one go. My hemline looked much better but I hated the overall shortiness I got. I cut 5" or more than. It was simply too much. This is way I don't know what to do. But I have 2 months to decide. I start to feel better with my current length and the option that I could go to APL in this year makes me unpatient.

Pfff yes! I'm past APL, and creeping up on top-of-BSL! Where's my hair, by natural appearance and not stretched, in the front? A bit past CBL!

The bottom of it is about where my towel is, so about APL. When my hair is just down, it sits ABOVE THAT TATTOO. You can see the whole tattoo! The WHOLE THING!
