Congratulations! :cheer: A trim sounds worthwhile, provided you have a good stylist who does what you ask. Best of luck!
Congrats and welcome!
Been feeling the extra length lately! It's so cool! It's just past collarbone, and it's getting far easier to tie it back now. It's beginning to look long in a shoulder-length-not-actually-long-but-regular-culture-long kind of way. If that makes sense. It's like, it's beginning to look like what most people think of as long, even though it's still mid length.
A few months ago I bought a wonderful set of pin/almost fork things on the Swap board. They're like two U-bent double ended knitting needles, and they're literally the best. OK, these aren't great photos, and I haven't mastered this at all yet, but I've got lovely compliments from my colleagues about the look, and I'm really liking it from front and back. It's basically an English braid flipped up with the ends tucked under, then pinned. These pins are amazing, as long as I've put them in right it holds until I take them out. I'm going to get hold of some more knitting needles to play with, as these are a tad long for the length I currently have, but I love them anyway.
Sorry if the pics are massive.
So lovely fred! Mind if I ask you what your pony circ is? I'm wondering if some of my style problems (and desire for that inch) are just because I'm creeping up on a iii.

Thank you! :D I'm glad you asked, it's prompted me to actually find out! I did measure back in January, but I could hardly make a ponytail then! Measuring tape says I have 7.5cm of ponytail, putting me right in the middle of a ii. That's freshly washed and air dried, with everything about as sleek as it gets. Isn't it amazing what a difference just a few more cm can make?
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Jumping in! My hair is currently a tad bit past the shoulders (with some annoying layers and bad ends :/ ), I have finally grown out a pixie. Just a week ago I was stupid and cut my bangs, just to realize that I actually want to get rid of them.
I'm plotting to grow my hair into APL first and after that see if I want it longer or not. For a boost, I've started to wash my hair less often, taking biotin, stopped using heat tools (especially straightening irons :o ) and using coconut oil as a treatment whenever I have time.
I'm looking for some protective hairstyles for both day and night, but most are a bit tricky for me to wear because of these stupid layers and bangs.
I bleach my hair (now a using only a mild developer and a cream bleach) and this adds some challenge to the growing project. I like having various sorts of pastel colors on my head a bit too much so I don't think I'll quit bleaching ;)
I'll post pics when I can, now I'm still a newbie here on LHC so must wait a little :)

Ah yeah I've got 1.5cm more than that, and if TLHC has taught me anything even half a cm makes a difference lol.

Welcome!! Have you checked out the colorful longhairs thread?
For protective styles, I think a french or dutch braid would be your best bet? They can help hold shorter layers.

Thanks so much :) !
I saw the thread and actually bookmarked it so I'll enjoy my Sunday read :) !
Yup, a French braid is actually what I'm often trying to do, the top layers are still a little bit too short but I guess it won't be long until they settle :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
On protective styles, are they any that don't involve braiding? Whilst I can braid, my hands have been really sore recently due to my health condition and I find braiding difficult. I've just been throwing up in a messy bun or a pony tail, done with a bobble - a non metal one.

If it's long enough, a peacock twist with a claw clip is easy peasy! That's what I've been doing most days now lol.

:blossom: Thanks! If you do it'd be great to see pics! Thinking of length,
here's a mildly terrible length shot from this morning, please excuse the dressing down and general badness of the photo. It's at that stage where it seems to rest on my shoulders no matter what happens, although it's definitely creeping down, and is hollow-of-throat level right now.
Yesterday I bought some double-ended aluminium knitting needles so I can try to make more of these pins. Bending them turns out to be easy enough, making them fun colours is probably going to be the challenge.
Yeah it looks like we are about the same length, though may be mine is thicker because I wasn't able to get my braid long enough to tuck up. I'll keep trying though.

Welcome! And :hifive: fellow bleacher/lover of pastel hair :D I'm not planning on quitting bleach just yet, although once my current stash has run out I'm going to have a good long think about how to progress, and if I want another journey around the colour wheel. Glad to see you've found the colourful thread already.

I hope you get there soon :) I keep meaning to try two braids taken towards the back and crossed over to pin. I wonder if that would work on thicker hair? They might need some kind of fastening on the end though. I don't tie off my braid when I do this, but I have a feeling I'd need to for that. This week could be time to experiment!

Well hello there! I saw your pictures and your dye job is wonderful! My Little Pony :)
