It depends on your thickness and texture as well as the direction the hair is coming out of the follicle. I have very flippy hair. It does the half-flipped in, half-flipped out thing all the way from jaw to collar bone. I found that blow-dry styling helped but only sometimes. This is a big reason why I am over having short hair, lol.

:hmm: If I remember correctly, the last time I was at this stage of hair growth the flippy stage lasted until APL. I'm close to APL and it still does this to some degree. It's not annoying me like it was at shoulder/collarbone though!

Corvana, it's getting there! Another few months and hopefully the ends won't be exploding so much ;)

Congratulations! :cheer: A trim sounds worthwhile, provided you have a good stylist who does what you ask. Best of luck!

I've got a trim lined up in 2 weeks time which I'm looking forward to as my ends are pretty dry at the moment. It's been a while since my last trim and i haven't been keeping on top of my hair care routine.
Congrats and welcome!
Been feeling the extra length lately! It's so cool! It's just past collarbone, and it's getting far easier to tie it back now. It's beginning to look long in a shoulder-length-not-actually-long-but-regular-culture-long kind of way. If that makes sense. It's like, it's beginning to look like what most people think of as long, even though it's still mid length.
A few months ago I bought a wonderful set of pin/almost fork things on the Swap board. They're like two U-bent double ended knitting needles, and they're literally the best. OK, these aren't great photos, and I haven't mastered this at all yet, but I've got lovely compliments from my colleagues about the look, and I'm really liking it from front and back. It's basically an English braid flipped up with the ends tucked under, then pinned. These pins are amazing, as long as I've put them in right it holds until I take them out. I'm going to get hold of some more knitting needles to play with, as these are a tad long for the length I currently have, but I love them anyway.
Sorry if the pics are massive.

Your bun looks wonderful, _fred_! Congrats on the extra length! Isn't it nice to be able to do more than a ponytail? ;)

Thank you! I hadn't even realised it looks like a bun, but it kinda does, that's really awesome! :happydance: And yes, it's so nice! Now I need to practice French and Dutch braids...

:blossom: Thanks! If you do it'd be great to see pics! Thinking of length, here's a mildly terrible length shot from this morning, please excuse the dressing down and general badness of the photo. It's at that stage where it seems to rest on my shoulders no matter what happens, although it's definitely creeping down, and is hollow-of-throat level right now.
Yesterday I bought some double-ended aluminium knitting needles so I can try to make more of these pins. Bending them turns out to be easy enough, making them fun colours is probably going to be the challenge.
