Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Sounds like you will reach APL same time as me roughly however your hair is curly so you will have longer hair than me by quite a lot. I curled my hair one time when it was waist length and it almost shortened it to collar bone length .... it must be extra hard growing curly hair having patience but I love curly hair and wish mine was curly naturally my hair won't hold curls at all

I wore my hair down to dry in it's completely curly state today, it seems like it's gotten a lot longer since the last time. I'm about 2-3 inches from APL so I'm hoping by the new year.

Yeah I reckon that my hair will be hip when I'm APL curly. It takes patience for sure, but it's well worth it. Good luck and speed on your journey as well :).

Thank you! It's nice to see, since my hair just flips under on my shoulders and doesn't look any longer than that lol. At least somewhere I can see some progress!

This is what I mean when I say I hate this stage.
How my hair looks once it has dried:

How long it actually is if I gently stretch it:

I lose like two full inches to the dreaded shoulder flip. Unless I blow dry it (don't even have one so I can't lol), it will just dry all curled up on my shoulders. It's too short to stay behind them long enough to dry straight(er). And of course the back is already a little longer (U hemline), and add in the visual loss of a couple inches from the sides/front and my hair looks ridiculous
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I can relate. It will probably take me at least 3 more months before I hit APL, but if I stretch my hair now, I'm less than a cm away.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Corvana I know they rob you of length but your flippy ends are cute! They make it look like you've styled your hair even when you haven't. Maybe you'll love them when your hair's longer as they add interest :)

I second that! They're super cute!

I like the flippy ends. They're one of my favorite things about that length.

Assuming they stick around! My hair is very straight, so as far as I can tell it's only flipping at my shoulders due to laying on them while wet. Once my hair is long enough to stay behind my shoulders, it dries pretty straight! Not 1a, but at least 1b. But if I end up with waves, I won't complain one bit!! I've wanted wavy or curly hair for... At least 20 years

See, and I feel like it's the worst thing about this length  Mostly because it just hides how long my hair actually is. The one bonus to straight hair is that (except in this stage) it shows "true" length, since there's no shrinkage to hide behind. At least that's what I tell myself so I don't try to get a perm :rollin:
