My roommate has a scalp massage thingy, like this thing. It feels sooooo good and I can almost feel my hair growing when I borrow it. :D

It's not a very good shot, but hey, it's the back of my head we're talking about! :p
I still struggle with French braids, but that's mostly because my layers start falling out and the whole thing falls apart and I just give up :o I'm really looking forward to being able to do a proper fishtail braid. A hairstyle day sounds like fun! I can't think of any alliterative names for one, where's
Sillage?
Bunnysaur you did an amazing job! I'm soo happy that we are now making some progress and we have toys to prove it:joy:. I just love this thread. BTW I LOVE your hair color! I agree with all your points with braiding. Don't let layers get to you, remember the good old trick of using bobby pins to hide them!:D

Thanks XcaliburGirl!;) I'm still new to hair toys, and I'm learning so much about what all you "LHCers" love when it comes to toys. I think next time I'll try Ficcares. Also it's nice to meet a fellow wavy/wurly! Yay Are you into any toys as of this moment?

Unfortunately, I'm stuck in between chin and shoulder right now, so the best I can do is a claw clip. I can't wait to use my Flexi-8s and hair sticks again.
When my hair was longer than waist, I used hair sticks exclusively, because I wasn't aware of any other way to keep my hair up. That was pre-LHC, so they were all plastic sticks from Claire's. I'm definitely going to get a nice wooden fork as soon as I can actually use one.

OOh I love the claw clip! The moment I could tie my hair was the moment I bought one. ;)
Yes I've heard of the Flexi's! You'll get there in no time! I can't wait to see you share your styles and toys later on. :D I hope you can join us tomorrow for the towel test! Yay:D

Thanks! I think I will. Mine will be more along the lines of "Can I call this shoulder?":) That way I will have a good baseline.

Rowie, that fork is stunning. I love the detail, and the idea of a hair toy that will work with you all the way on your hair journey!

But at least most of us in here can do a basic french braid. :happydance:
Yes! I would do nothing but a peacock twist if it wasn't for this site. But so many of the styles are for longer hair, so we can all inspire each other :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I just want to whine....
I can't quite understand why my hair - at the healthiest it had ever been - looked so thin and scraggly when long. I can't understand why my a-hole ex-dresser cut me to ear/chin layers instead of APL almost a year ago when I asked for APL. I can't understand why layers make me look like I have zero hair (see-though ends). I can't understand why at shoulder/flip my hair still looks so thin I want to shave my head.
I especially can't understand why when my hair was this length in college, in all my bleach/color/heat glory, it looked so much better and thicker than it does today completely virgin and healthy.
whhhhhyyy?
End whine.

:grouphug: Sorry you're having a bad hair moment. I think this is just such an awkward length expecially for wavy thinnies. I feel your pain.
I want to add a treatment to my routine, but can't decide what. I was thinking about cocoveda oil and sukesh ayurveda herbs from henna sooq. The sukesh is cassia plus other goodies. I'm always interested in thickening. Then I just read about catnip being good for fine haired wavies so that caught my attention. Then there's monistat. How nice would it be to get to apl twice as fast. I've also considered adding msm to decrease shedding but I think I'd rather have something with a little quicker results.
So anyone care to weigh in on which I should try?

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hey gang!
It has been a while. I am well past APL straight now at 23" stretched, but I have a long way to go curly. Looking forward to towel test thursday results.
@Rowie- LOVE the GTS fork, very intricate. Please post action shots when you get it!
@Battles- Yay for being nearly APL!! :blossom:
@Bunnysaur- would love to see pics of your PM sticks. I love PM they are my favourite everyday hairsticks by far!!
@InTheCity- hang in there! I think your hair is fabulous.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I checked tonight, i'm finally @ APL, just barely but my longest hairs have the towel finally @ 24"
Will post pic on towel Thurs :)

Got up early to wash my hair and take TTT-pictures, no warm water!!!
Hope to solve the problem asap, but for now, to work with greasy hair :-(

@InTheCity:
I know what you are going through... I had the same problem... And then my hair got somehow nice (around 2008) and then it broke!! :blueeek:
It needed a lot of patients to get it full again, because I needed to trim of my ends as they where like you say zero hair. With my curls it felt like it will take forever! But time goes on and now I love my hair. And you can do it too! Be nice to your hair and it will grow. Slowly, but it will grow. :grouphug:
Did you think of taking some supplements?
TTT is postponed for me :(:
I washed my hair last night and it has dried (even not completely) over night. And therefore it's shorter than usual.
So it doesn't make sense to take a picture now. It is shorter than my signature pic... I will wash tomorrow morning again and take in the afternoon my TTT pic. :)
For my curly hair it's better to take a photo of the same hair care routine, otherwise it is not comparable...
I'm looking forward to see your photos!! :agree:

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hello all my sweeties! Ok i'll start off the towel test! It's always nerve racking but EXCITING!!!
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8CE22AC6E2.jpg
AHHHHH i feel like I have a long way to reach APL! DAYUM! I thought I'd do a shot fresh out of the shower shot! I guess I should of combed out my hair, Ok i'll remember to do that next time. I'm sure there are experts in here that can imagine my length if I were to straighten out my hair (which i'll never ever do!).
@lunnamummy Thanks for all your comments. Yes, I hope we can all share our hairstyles. I hope to see yours as well!
@Lyssandria - You bet! I'll definitely show some action shots once I get them.
@Bunnysaur- Girl, I can't wait to see your hair! You have the texture I wish I had, but I know, "the grass is always greener on the other side."
@Megamystery- I hope you can join us! I miss you and I hope all is well with you.
@Daniverde- I can't wait to see your results as well! It's so nice that you are on here.
@sillage- Girl, I hope all is well with you, and I'll continue to send positive vibes in your direction!
Forgive me all if I spelled any of your names wrong. I'm so bad with names! As always let us celebrate our progress today!!!!:D:D:D:
P.S I'll share my latest hairstyle technique i'm experimenting tomorrow, just so that we can just focus on everyone's test!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Very nice wurls, Rowie!
Here's my first towel test! :)
I'm not sure I can officially call that shoulder yet, but I promise, in the shower with water running through it, it does hit my shoulders! It just flips up like crazy at the ends. Also my towel was slipping on one side, but I guess that doesn't matter too much yet.

Thanks for the great welcome, Bunnysaur and lunamummy. :)
Unfortunately, this is my second time on this thread. I decided in Jan 2011 (pretty much brushing APL) that I had to try a pixie cut at least once before continuing to grow my hair. :doh:I'm glad to be back here after over a year.

Thanks lunamummy!:D hmmm I don't know since i'm bad with measurements and math. LOL:wigtongue For me, I feel like I grow hair slow compared to most LHC-ers. :o I decided to do a wet shot this time, since I normally have bushy, frizzy, coarse hairs. I find it's the only way to level out the playing field since there are straight hair friends here that have the advantage of naturally showing length.:eyebrows:

I tried to do the same thing, but my hair still flipped up, so I went with the dry shot. My hair is slept-on in that shot, so it's not as wavy as it can be, though.

Hey both, I'm totally going to be going with a pre-drying shot. The curls make that towel look ever further away!

Interesting...Here I thought if I took a wet shot my hair would be straight. LOL I guess sometimes hair behaves the way it will want to depending on the weather. Your hair almost looks borderline 1c-2a. let me check out your album since i know you said before you had longer hair. :D
ETA: i just looked at your album! You have gorgeous hair! Now I know what you mean about your hair texture. Yay nice to meet a fellow wurly!
