Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Olivetime, that's great that you've figured out something that works for you! It feels so good when that happens. I'm about 2 months into WO, and it's going so great. Give updates on how stretching washes goes for you! I'm interested :)
Today, I was feeling irritated with the sensation of my ends rubbing against my sweater at the shoulders, and then realized this means I've hit a major milestone! My hair is sitting on my shoulders when dry!
And because of that first milestone, I achieved another milestone - getting all my hair into a single French braid (I've done double braids before). This is major for me because I've never felt great with any protective styles and I feel like I need to start doing them because, tada! my ends are finally long enough to get damaged by touching my clothes.
Here's a bad picture of this messy braid. I rolled it up and clipped it to keep everything safe and contained. I might just be doing this for a while!

Abacus, great milestones! Your new braid style looks good and comfortable!
Re: stretching washes. That's something I've already achieved, many years ago, which I'm so grateful for. I can easily go 2 weeks without washing/wetting/rinsing my hair. I used to wash my hair twice a day so I've come quite far. Time and patience.

You know what, I kind of got my longhair terms mixed up lol. I meant not using shampoo and conditioner anymore, not stretching washes! I'm always interested in people giving up shampoo and conditioner and how that goes for them olivetime :)

I'm joining you with water only! Yay! (Or tea, I like rinsing with tea a lot)
My spring/summer plans are daily oiling, braids in the morning and trying not to fidget with the ends throughout the day.

Just checking in. I'm still here and getting close to 22 inches. I think APL will be around 23-24.... back to growing .
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Based on the fact that I have a trim booked on the first week of April, my graduation will be in approximately three months. I wonder what it would look like afterwards.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Putting myself in "2 week wait" zone.
Really considering a good trim and maybe going back to shoulder with a more solid hemline.
I haven't trimmed this hair at all, now 15/16 months post buzz cut and the ends are so uneven. Some days I can ignore it and others I struggle. This length is also an annoying length for me and I've never made it past where it is now.

Keep pushing on to cbl then trim a little past shoulder so even if you cut it, you'll still have had hair longest that it's been for X amount of time or just maintain it do you aren't losing length so quickly

After really sitting with these "want to cut" feelings, I realized again for the millionth time, it's an old habit of mine to cut off my hair when I'm feeling overwhelmed in general. I spoke it out loud with my husband and decided I really do want to wait to cut it and I'm feeling back on track with waiting til closer to the two year mark before that happens.
Bat, the two year mark should bring my current shortest layer to CBL, how about that! Lol!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Took my hair down out of its 2 week wearing-it-up streak to oil it and enjoy it down for a minute. I love that it's actually touching my shoulders when it's loose.
The short bangs pieces on my forehead are actually chin length if I pull them, but it will be a long time before they actually look chin length.
