Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I've been shedding a lot too. I'm not alarmed, but it's gross. I don't like having hair every-frackin-where. Blarg.
I've been re-evaluating things. After reading here I've gone through myriad emotions and I think I've made TWO big decisions! (Well, as far as hair goes-lol.)
I'm growing out my bangs, which I've already said. This is exciting and daunting all at the same time. I can totally do this.
BUT what's more? I've decided to stop coloring my hair. I'm freaking out a bit over all of this, but the reality is I really want to grow it and get it healthy. I figured that stopping the chemical dye would be enough, but I'm wondering about henna now. I know it's conditioning and strengthening which is why I've gone back and forth about it. But after a few conversations with hair folk I decided that it's better, for now, to just grow it and see what happens.
The bangs are no problem, I can grow those without too much of a headache. The coloring, or lack thereof? I'll need support on. I don't love my natural color since having kids. It was always quite auburn and most called it red. I lost most of that red after kids. My hair completely changed. As of a year ago it was my natural color and I just felt I looked so drab. My hairdresser (who's worked with me for 15 years) said it happens and helped me get it to my old color. Then we turned it up and went really red. It's made me so happy! But, it is damaging and I know this. So.....I'm done.
I'm skeered!

Well if you really like the red then you could try henna, but i don't think it'll be as bright as your avatar picture (i assume that's your current haircolor?). Do you bleach it at the moment to get it this bright? Or is your natural haircolor really light?
I'm sure you can do it, good luck with whatever you decide to do (though i think the bright red looks lovely!)

thank you! it's not quite that bright right now, it's a little more subdued. I've never bleached my hair-it's pretty light!

If it's light then a suitable henna mix, possibly with some red direct deposit dye should give you some awesome colour.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I third henna. It did wonders for my hair and if you're committed to red hair it is perfect because it will not fade. Did I mention it makes hair shinny, strong, easy to detangle and your scalp happy? Yeah henna rules. :D
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have crazy red eye in this first photo-but these show the coloring a bit more:

that's my crazy red.
natural is more like this:http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1-30at1724.jpg
I know the photo is dark and it's hard to tell, but it's a light-ish auburn.

Yay for red hair! I think you will probably love henna, because it is so bright, lasts so long and leaves your hair happier than it started :)

MY GRAH-TOE SHIPPED!!!!! 'course, I don't get to play with it for about another week, but I can hardly contain myself! I am so freakin' excited. I've bookmarked the page with the tracking info and I'll be watching it like a hawk until it's delivered. I'm actually considering having DF pick it up for me when it arrives at school and bringing back home to me so I'll have it a day earlier :p
