I'm trying to focus less on the milestones than on enjoying the journey, but it does feel nice to be inching slowly closer to APL. September photo is with braid waves, the one from today is more or less my natural texture (I fell asleep with it with last night, so there may have been some pillow-squishing of whurls!).
Nice growth! Your natural texture is pretty.

Thanks for the encouragement, all!
While the style didn't come out great (weird little stringy/straight ends instead of full waves), I did think to take a pic. Because it was straightened to start, it really showcases length! Sadly, the volume made me a little bummed. This is why I always end up chopping past shoulder. Even the stylist remarked about it, saying "it's weird, you have a lot of volume up on your head then it all disappears." Sigh...

You don't look far from APL, I do see the progresses :)

I've had hair cuts that were purposefully done to create this distribution of volume.
I think it looks pretty! Light and delicate.

I love it! It looks very feathery and pretty. Did you say you’ve still got some bleach damage on your ends? Maybe as your undyed hair continues to grow out, the thickness you’ve got on top will travel down - but even if it doesn’t, I still think it looks great. And it’s getting so long!

Thanks! I think I’ve got a good few months left in this thread, but that’s so nice to hear the progress is visible 😊

I seem to have the opposite problem - thinner on top and super thick on the bottom. Trust me, it's better the way you have it. It does look really soft and lovely - I really like that it looks full and healthy on top and then feathers into wisps.

Wow it's looking so good! I remember we buzzed during the same month in 2019, and I've had like 5 haircuts while growing out, so I'm still at collarbone, but seeing your growth shows me where I probably would have been. I'm jealous haha, but also I had to bleach some henna out so the cut was necessary.

You might just have the type of hair that needs frequent microtimming, you might also have whisp fine hair because it doesn't look sparse like a i, have you tried doing a strand test?

Thanks! I’ve had three haircuts during this time, all in the first year, to try to get the buzz to grow out more forgivingly. Sometimes I think too about where I’d be if I’d just stuck with the mullet and let things happen naturally, but it made me SOOOO unhappy, I think the slower progress is necessary!
Did you bleach out your henna?? Are you not henna-ing anymore? Or did it get too dark/saturated? Do tell!
