Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Thank you dear. ❤️ Yeah, there’s definitely some kind of a curse among us. I have so many hair regrets that I had done simply out of anxiety and impulsiveness, despite wanting long hair for years. It sounds counterintuitive, but I think some find a way to cope with different mental issues by doing something to their hair since it’s instant and a visible change. The hair is not in focus, it’s just used to get a sense of control and relief when having difficulties. When you think about it, it really does make sense. I have noticed that we all here share certain traits and hair happens to be our victim. I am learning to relax and deal with stress using techniques that are not self-destructive. Haven’t had long hair in 7 years so I’m challenging myself not to touch it for a year, when I’ll trim and continue growing. It’s a journey in many ways. :D

I was just barely shy of waist the last time I chopped it, trying not to be mad at myself because I know why I did it but ugh!
Getting there! Looks like 2-3 more inches?

Absolutely. Like emotional eating but emotional hair cutting/change. I used to be much worse when I was younger. I am going to try to observe my feelings and what is going on in my life as my hair gets longer and I start getting that cutting urge. Its definitely a journey! It's nice that we have the support of each other on this thread as we continue on our hair growing path. <3

Ugh! Yeah I got to waist one time... chopped it and never made it past MBL. I really want to get to waist this time. I *think* hope that its about 2, maybe 2.5 inches. Current length is almost 22 inches and APL is 24 inches. Im hoping for APL by Christmas! Fingers crossed!

Well guys I'm ready to graduate :D
Today after henndigo.
Hair is a mess because I didn't apply any product after the dyeing, as recommended. So kind of " naked hair challenge " today as well.
APL on dry it is;)

Good idea about putting a towel there to measure!

Whoa
Iyashikei! Your hair has gotten so long since I last saw a pic of it! I like it! It looks really healthy and shiny. I don't like this length on myself either. Just keep growing!

LilacOrchid:lol: I never thought about it that way before! You are so right. For me what seems to happen is once my hair gets long its like my whole mindset shifts and I don't like long hair anymore. I don't envy it on other people, or even admire it like I did before. I start admiring bobs and going back and looking at pictures of myself with shoulder length hair( I have a lot of them!) And even if I hold out for several months I always end up cutting, enjoying it for a few months and then... bam! Regret and regrowing. Sigh....
Speaking of regrowing I did a towel test yesterday on hair right before I washed it so its very straight. I have been wearing my hair up every day and when trying to pick out new glasses I took it down to see what it would look like with the glasses. I was pleasantly surprised by how much longer it seems to me. So I did a towel test. Im continuing to wear it up every day of July.

I just replied to another post where someone used a towel to measure APL, then browsed backwards and here is another one! I had never seen this method before today--it's fantastic!
Are there similar methods for other milestones? Maybe a towel around the waist? I can't do those tshirts with the lines on them.
