Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Totally agree Vpatt - congratulations Poli, very exciting!
So what (if anything) is anyone doing to try to speed up hair growth? Inspired by this thread http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...d.php?t=119947 I have tried a coffee rinse (made me VERY awake lol) and am trying to do a scalp massage (inverted) before washing, but I keep forgetting. I like pre-wash oiling, so might add some growth friendly essential oils (e.g. Peppermint) to my oil blend too.
I have never really measured my hair before and find it a bit tricky, but as I've just hennaed I can use my roots as a guide to how fast my hair is growing. As I've no idea how fast my hair usually grows it won't be very scientific! I'd love to hear if any of you guys have any thoughts on encouraging faster growing hair... Maybe we can get to APL faster!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Has anyone successfully made a faux bob that stays and is comfy? If yes, could you share the method? I have been trying to make one several times yesterday and today without luck. Either it feels that my front layers are too short, or my hair as a whole is too short or that my hair is too thin or it doesn't feel sturdy but more like it's going to fall down any second.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I think mine is growing the average of one half inch per month.....I have tried inversion with castor oil massage. I'm not sure if it really helped......but some people swear by it. At least I am not slower than average, lol. It is very difficult for me to measure with a tape....I can measure three times and get three different numbers. At least I will.be able to tell for sure when it reaches my elbow. Which is about eight inches away.
I use a wide tooth comb from Eternally in Amber (Etsy) and also finger comb. I only brush occasionally as I feel it tears at my hair. I rinse with cold water after shampoo to close the cuticles. And use vinegar in the cold water if I use my shampoo bars to correct the ph. I use SMT (Snowymoons Moisture Treatment) which I call 411 ....4 parts conditioner,1 part honey, 1 part aloe vera gel. Sometimes I add oil, also. I use that before washing. These are things that will not cause hair to grow faster, but by protecting the ends you may not lose length from damage. Pol, these are basic things you probably know....but it is good for me to repeat them for myself, lol.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Yay for Poli! How long did it take you?
I don't know my growth rate but it's below average for sure. I measured today too. Unstretched is 18" and APL is 23" for me.
To hopefully speed things up, I am taking biotin and bamboo tea (once it's delivered next week). I am also practicing the law of attraction (can't hurt) by saying: my hair grows really fast!

Thank you. I was above shoulder last September and now I'm nearly APL so it took about a year. I had one trim - I think 1 inch or less during that time. So I would say average grow rate and I'm happy with it :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I remembered a nice inbetween milestone for us: if you lift your arms up above your head, and gauge how long your hair looks from the back, the armpit level appers to be higher up like this, compared to when your arms are down.
I have reached this lifted-up-arms-APL :disco:
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I just measured my hair, and got exactly 50 centimeters!!! (19,7 inches.)
I have to do the measuring myself, so it's not probably very accurate, but half a meter of hair sounds great nevertheless!

Wow! your hair looks longer than that. I know head size and neck and all that make a difference. That length on me is only very slightly below shoulder length. Congrats on your armpit milestone! I was noticing that one myself just last week. :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It does? Yay! :joy: I have to say I am not sure at all if my self-measuring is anywhere near correct, it's quite difficult!
Congrats on pseudo-APL too!
