Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Thanks so much for the encouragement and support, eva888, moontree and Queentamora! :)
I have to say that although I'm not exactly completely in love with this length, I'm so happy to be able to look down at my ends and not see splits anymore. Amazing!
I'll post pics once I'm a month into this journey, that way I'd be able to show some progress... I HOPE, haha!
Happy and healthy growing, everyone!

That's why I measure stretched. I know some people call it cheating, but with curls your length can be deceiving and change day to day or sometimes just depending on the time of day or the weather.

Hello ladies!
I am Mara and I am new here.
I think that my hair is a type 4. It is currently suffering from damage due to relaxer and henna /protein. It used to be longer and I still have some stands that are longer than most but I think that it is currently between shoulder and APL. I would like to grow it to APL and beyond. So I am joining this thread hoping to find some inspiration and support.
Happy growing everybody :)

Welcome Maara! What is your routine currently? I don't have your hair type, but if you check around, I believe there is a type 4 thread and you can get tips and tricks from people that know what works with super curly hair :)

Thank you East for welcoming me :)
I went and found the type 4 thread. I am very excited! My hair is actually weird. I think that it has big zigzags so I think that it is a big type 4. The relaxed ends form curls though.
Umm I keep changing my routine because I have not yet found something that works perfectly for my damaged hair but what I currently do/did is:
-I have a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner from oriflame that I use every now and then but many times I just wash my hair with a conditioner from the same company that I like a lot.
-I use this same conditioner as a leave-in. I am rather heavy-handed with it.
-I then add a layer of coconut oil and most of the time put my hair up in a bun. I wear it up because it is too damaged to wear down.
-Everyday I mist my hair and add a touch of oil.
-I wash my hair when I feel that it is becoming oily. This may be a few times per week, up to once every two weeks.
I hope that what I am doing will help me grow my hair. Another reason why I use the bun is because my hair was suffering greatly from breaking with combing. Buns help me detangle my hair much less often.

You seem you have a good routine. It doesn't look too damaged judging by your profile picture and you seem to be very close to APL!
