Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I love the idea of drawing the line across your armpits. I had'nt thought of that. I just find it hard to figure out where my true armpit length is.

My hubby took this photo for me. There is still a long ways to go to get to APL, but progress nonetheless!

It’s the things I have learned here that helped me a long my way.
I’m in the 2019 no trimming threads! Not getting a trim between the two! Hopefully will gain some more length!
I think that's a rare compliment, very nice! I wish I could go two years without trimming too :D

I would say that drawing the line is probably most accurate but everyone gets to decide for themselves what is their true APL (passing towel test, being safely and securely over the armpit grease before calling it etc.) :)

For me, my hair actually stared to feel long this week. It is solid SL now and I think it is because it was so short before that this feels "long".

That is super nice :D What is your approach to get no (or so few) split ends?
I have a question: What do you do if your ends start to get dry?
I get that in about a month after a trim, so just trimming it away would mean no gain in length..
I started using a bit of almond oil in the ends some time ago, and also finishing a wash sometime with diluted vinegar to get rid of chalk from the hard water we have here. That makes it better, but as soon as I stop with the oiling and/or the vinegar rinse, the dryness comes back very fast. Any ideas?
I would also be open to get a water filter for our shower, so if you have any suggestions..?

Nice, it's a good feeling! Funny how different people feel different lengths long or short. I think I have seen folks here saying their hair feels short at waist, hip, TBL or something like that :D I guess it depends on what length is your "normal" length. I was somewhere between BSL and waist for a long time so this current length still feels short.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi everyone. I had a good amount of hair chopped off in April due to bleach damage & now my hair is halfway between SL & APL but I have annoying thin layers in the top sections, mainly on 1 side (due to bleach breakage) which are somewhere between my neck & shoulders. However the good news is that after a few months of babying, no heat, cut the bleach since I noticed the problem of damage had got really bad around November, my hair is growing. My question is please would you share your routines & everything you do to look after your hair & help it grow as I’d love a bit of inspiration? Thanks.

Hi! It was amazing that she said that. I told her all about LHC. She didn’t act interested. Her whole life has been about cutting and doing hair. I can’t imagine someone NOT being interested! 😂😂😂
I do oil my ends with almond oil when I think about. Probably several times a week. Also, I’ve been following the curly girl, using no cones, safe gels, etc for the past two years. I never use heat, and now that’s it’s longer and able, I put it up in a bun. I have just this last wash use shampoo and conditioner that’s no CG friendly. I am not trying to encourage my curls, but focusing on length. If I notice a change in its condition, I will immediately switch back to safer products. I was intrigued with people talking about the slip they get with other products. I only wash my hair about one day a week.
I’ve maybe only did the vinegar rinse a couple of times over the past two years. And I have well water, we don’t have a filter. I don’t really brush my hair. If I do it’s very little with a Tangle Teaser. Oh and no color. It’s my natural color. I don’t know if this helps. Good luck on your growing!

Thank you! I thought it was rare. But I have, also, never had my hair this long before. And I’ve always gotten it cut every 4-5 weeks, too! Haha!

Everyone's hair looks really beautiful. I think I'm at solid APL now! It's about an inch or two past the towel when wet. See you all in the next thread :) :)
Laura, have you tried spritzing the ends with some water in between washes? I spritz with water every other day or so but only wash once or twice a week. Occasionally, I'll add one drop of oil to the ends after I spritz with water. I use Camelia because it's so light. I add 2-3 drops of the same oil after showering while it's still damp. If that doesn't work, maybe try the SMT deep treatment on occasion? Hope this helps!
