Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Oh man.. I moved again to an area with hard water. And I'm so sad! The effect on my hair is so obvious and when washing as I used to, it got straight and nasty and when combing a lot of waxy dust sticks to the comb. I knew water types make a difference on the hair but when comparing to my avatar photo it is so obvious! Wanted to make a length shot just for fun and then compared the photos (granted that the photo below has been taken in bad lighting as well) but I'm not pleased and will try to find a solution for this. Silly water.. :(

Our water is quite hard too :( I have read some mixed experiences about shower heads with filters. I will be trying one sooner or later. I do clarify my hair once a month but I don't think it's enough, so I'm looking to try a chelating shampoo instead. Some suggest you could try sparkling water or ACV as your last rinse.

Yeah ACV or white vinegar or lemon juice usually works for me as well but I have been washing my hair with soap and not shampoo and the soap I used just really doesn't work with hard water. Hard water kind of sucks but definitely an acid rinse after any washing method helps a lot!
I washed with a shampoo after my disaster from yesterday and it is much better but not nearly as good as it was with softer water.

I can do a disc bun that holds pretty well with a flexi or my two prong Jeter fork!

Glad to hear your hair is recovering :) The hard water/soft water thing is something I hadn't even thought about in a long time. It reminded me how my mother always hypes lake water she uses to wash her hair during summers and how it makes her hair the softest ever. The pH of lake water is really close to the pH of our hair so apparently that's the reason.
Congrats for the disc bun Knittink! :D
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have been trying for over a month, they would just collapse, but somehow last Friday I hit the sweet spot and they stay 5-6 hrs before they work loose. It is the only bun I can get to work with a fork. I have been wearing my hair twisted under an octopus clip for months now, I am glad for a different look.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
That really is nice progress. Next month it will be little more easier and soon enough it will hold with no problem :) And you will be able to do other looks too. Post pics of your up-dos if you ever feel like it!

Here is my disc bun with med Flexi, this one lasted about 5 hours before I felt the Flexi drop on my shoulder.
