Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
[QUOTE=Offie;3662218]Joining you all on this seemingly endless process! It's funny because between ears and shoulder length the changes are quite visible as it growth, but then it just looks like it's not changing anymore!
Girl, it feels like I'm stuck in a shoulder length hair matrix for the last 6 months, haven't measured anything but I see some growth but some days I still have just above shoulder length hair. Haven't had a haircut sinds July 2018, just a microtrim.
Oh, where are my manners? Welcome to LHC, and esspecially to this tread!

I hope you guys are having luck with it, and patience to you! :)
Welcome Offie! Glad to have you join us. You are absolutely right, nothing else to do but to wait patiently :)

It was always in pigtails or french braids so what did I care, as soon as I turned 15 I cut it off because I hated having 'long' hair (BSL maybe?).
I don't think I've seen pictures of your hair? It's funny, I was having the same thoughts. A few days ago I snapped a quick pic with my hair down and thought...hmm.. not a fan. I've been wearing buns for the last year so it might've just been an adjustment. It was perfect around CBL with a bit of a side bang, but I've also worn long extensions before and I thought they looked fantastic. So I do think there is something 'awkward' about this length.
I also agree with GG, just hang around and see what happens. Not to mention, if layers work for you, you can always keep them around as you grow. I'm sure you look great! :)
Congratulations on reaching your longest (mindfully grown) lengths :)
It’ll be fun to keep growing and just see how it looks, behaves and feels. It’s good to enter new territory!
I’ve had layers in the past and loved them, but I couldn’t do any hairstyles with them, it left my hair too thin to plait or do anything with. I’m going to try for one length this time, apart from face framing pieces.
I don’t often post pictures but I’m took this one for the seasonal growth thread today. I brushed my hair for a change so it looks fuller :)

Your hair is so beautiful!
I might cut back at some point if I think the length isn’t doing me any favours. I think I’ll keep going as long as I think it looks healthy and (relatively) thick enough.

That's why I'm so excited to get past APL and head to BSL, to me that will feel so so long!
Also, Waveurly it's crazy that that is your hair without conditioner! It looks so shiny and moisturised. I fear if I didn't use so much conditioner my hair would be out of control!
I agree that BSL will be a very exciting length :)

I have long face shape so shorter hair suits me better but I just love long hair. Making different up-dos is also easier with long hair and I like how I look with my hair up. So I'm not going to go back to short/medium long hair in any time soon.
Simpscone is so right, your hair looks amazing Waveurly! My hair would be a frizzy mess without conditioner :D
Long hair gives a totally different look, doesn’t it. I think that maybe shorter hair suits my features, but longer hair makes me look more relaxed :) It’s important to me that my ends feel good too, it would drive me nuts otherwise. I’ve been using more conditioner and oil than usual and that’s making a difference already. I need regular trims too, otherwise the ends get grabby.

My hair has grown 2.25" in the past 6 months - 0.3+ inches a month - (measured from the roots, not the ends) - so that's not helping haha!
But after all, if we're trying to take good care of it, and also take care of the nutrition side of it - what is there to do but wait and forget about it as often as possible!
I hope you guys are having luck with it, and patience to you! :)
Hello and welcome! It’s certainly an exercise in patience :)

Welecome Offie!
Waveurly my goodness your hair is gorgeous!
Today I went to the library and I got some hairstyling books. That was a great way to squelch the chopping urge. So many hairstyles I want to do and I can't do until I have more length.
I have had "long" hair before. Had it growing up, I actually wasn't allowed to cut it until when I was a junior in high school I rode my bike to a salon and paid for it with my own money. I didn't grow it for a very long time after that. But, I seem to usually reach Mid back length and then get an overwhelming urge to cut back to chin length. Im not sure why that is yet.
Glad that we are all going through this together though, it helps. :)
This is my latest length picture. I love my waves but they really eat up the length.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It’s nice to catch up on this thread. This does seem like a long stage. I was thankful the day I could put my hair up and forget it. It’s only down on wash day... about 2 days every 10! And, this is the longest my hair has ever been. I’m slowly moving into uncharted territory. I need LHC desperately.

ReadingRenee your waves/curls are gorgeous! It must be frustrating to see shrinkage but I can see great progress :)
Vacurlylady I love your curls too! It’s exciting to be moving onto new ground. Although it feels like it takes forever, there is an advantage to hair growing slowly - it gives you time to learn how to deal with it :)

Thank you Lady Stardust! I guess we posted at the same time! I was just over in the seasonal project thread drooling over your beautiful straight hair and your straight across hemline. Thank you for the compliments on my waves/curls! :)

Thank you so much. Yes, I have often thought that I’m glad it grows slow. I have NO idea what I am doing. 🤣🤣🤣

I think that's a really lovely way to look at it. I'm going to save that quote :)
