Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I hit collar bone length about a month ago. I've got another 3 inches to go befor I hit APL. My ends have flipped, which I'm not happy about because they annoy me but at least they're all flipped out and not half flipped out and half curled inwards like they did last time I grew my hair out.
I've got a trim lined up in 2 weeks time which I'm looking forward to as my ends are pretty dry at the moment. It's been a while since my last trim and i haven't been keeping on top of my hair care routine.

Nice, welcome to the flip-club! It's super annoying sometimes but I look at it as a progress/milestone type thing. Besides, it won't last long!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Just out of curiosity, how long does the flip last / how long has it lasted for people? Mine was about a month, and now it's only flippy in extreme humidity. I was pretty relieved when it started acting like below-shoulder-length hair!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Being curly, mine sits on my shoulders for months before it finally makes it to below shoulder. It's currently curling up a lot more one side than the other, so I look like I've got about a 2 in length difference between them.

I've got about that much to go, as well! My flippies really depend on how my hair dries. But it's more likely to have one side in and one side out!

I honestly don't know! I've never really paid any attention to it before.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My flips come in stages, growing out after an inch or so has been added to the length. That may depend on hair type, though. When I add a few more inches, it starts flipping again. Weird.

Yesterday my DH pulled my hair straight (it still flips a bit in the back) and said I was at APL. It doesn't feel like it! Sometime in the next few days I may have him measure for me.
ETA: I couldn't wait. I had my husband measure and I have 1" to go!
Yay! That's so close!

Flipping ends, sounds great! My ends flip too ;) But after flips comes longer hair! :D

So as it stands I'll hit APL in about March? I'm trying to make myself less sad about it by reminding myself that if I hadn't had that extra inch growth spurt (that I'm aware of, since I started tracking in May), that my projected time frame for APL would be next May or June. So I'm saving a couple months!
Buuuuuuuut I could've been there by my birthday if I was still holding steady at 1"/mo
You never know! Hopefully you will pick up growth speed soon! Sometimes it can be a cause of less blood flow in colder weather. But anyway, don't take me on that, I'm not an expert ;)

Congrats with APL!! :happydance:

3 inches is not that far! A little trim every now and then to keep the ends healthy can really make a difference in the feel of hair, if they don't take of too much at least!

It's not. I'm lucky that my hairdresser appreciates that i want to grow my hair and will literally just cut off the dead ends. It's just been my own fault that I've missed my last couple appointments.

Congratulations!

very subjective. I'd say it more "works" than works LOL. I can get the first half to wrap around the base one time, for most of it. Some is still a bit too short to make it. The second half goes like 3/4s of the way, again just "most" of it, the rest pops out. But the clip will hold the middle! And then the ends slooooowly start exploding

It's there, and also exploding. Better than with a stick or something (that just unravels completely), but uh... It's... It's something :rollin:
When I tried, I was able to get it to hold with my 2-prong fork but it was popping out in the center. I figure with 2-3 more inches it shouldn't do that.
