Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I feel like I've awkwardly got my foot in two threads right now. When my hair hair dries naturally, the curls make it fall just below shoulder, but if I can grab one and stretch it out it juuuuust barely hits APL. So I think I'm going to hang out in both threads for now because it doesn't feel like TRUE APL if that's not what it looks like all the time. -sigh- silly silly curls...
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Thank you all! I am soooo happy~ I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it looks great :o
It's quite strange indeed how thick my braid looks considering how thin my hair really is. I'm sure it'll probably get thinner down the line due to taper but for now I'm very happy <3
Naima: My ponytail circumference right now is about 3'', not including my bangs [but I don't plan on growing them back out any time soon so I don't count them]
magfish: Although my hair is only wavy, I know how that feels! I lose an inch or more [usually more, it depends on the day] from my waves, and it's so frustrating! My hair likes to form these huge curls at the ends for some reason, so APL stretched and full APL are going to be completely different on me! :( When I was APL before the bleach incident, I'm pretty sure my hair was actually BSL stretched. I'll never know now, though :P
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi all! I'm so excited I can finally post :) I think this is where I am right now. I used to think I was past apl and on my way to bsl but I've decided to only claim the length when it lays there without my pulling on it so I think I have many more inches to make apl.
My hair is naturally 3c/4a but I relax it every 3 months. it dries straight but with a lot of texture and waves. Here's my towel picture (I hope it works)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I found a new bun that works well on shoulder-to-APL hair!
1. Pull back the top part of your hair as if to do a half-up.
2. Twist it into a cinnamon bun and secure with pins or a hair stick.
3. Then take the remaining hair, twist it, and wrap it around the bun.
4. Secure with pins or a second hair stick.
Is there a name for this kind of bun? Maybe a cinnamon and sugar bun or a double bun? It's great for shorter hair, because it makes a bun with a greater diameter, so your hair seems longer. You can also do it by parting your hair down the middle, creating a bun with the left half, then wrapping the right half around it.
Here is my fuzzy phone pic:

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Good idea, oatmealpie! I'll be trying that this week.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Awesome looking bun, I'll be trying it out later! I only have one hair stick, so I might pin the top bit and stick the bottom. Or try and do both with one stick.. I'll let you know how it goes!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
i'm not sure if i actually fall into this thread. the front of my hair is to my collarbone and the back is not quite to my shoulders :(
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!

Thanks Liz_park :D wow I love that bun idea oatmealpie, I'm going to add it to my list of updos and buns
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I love that bun idea oatmealpie - may be trying it soon and posting pics :)
I have my hair in a bun being held up by an itty bitty stick/fork thing - but no pics as the office is full and it'd get a few weird looks :S
