What do YOU think should be stickied, put in a sub-forum, or an announcement
There have been a few calls for a sticky with links to important threads. Sounds like a good move, but it'd be better if some of our other members add their voices!
Post the names of threads and links to them that you think would be particularly useful for a newbie stumbling in to this forum and trying to figure out what everything is.
I'm inclined to say that it'd be best to leave most of the fun threads out -- they're great, but there are going to be so many informative threads already that it could get bogged down with the fun stuff. Besides, the fun threads tend to stay within the first few pages of the forum as it is.
Thanks!
ETA: This is largely directing to "Index to Important Threads and Resources" announcement that appears at the top of all forums. Forum specific stickies can also be added.
Re: What do YOU think should be stickied?
I think most of the ___length to ___length threads should be stickied. Possibly the show us your ___ pics threads, too. Maybe have a sub-board in the Mane Forum for ongoing threads (the big, years-long ones), so that the entire first page of the Mane Forum isn't just stickies. It seems like a good way to introduce new users to the wild world of ongoing threads that LHC hosts, too.

It's going to be a single master thread/post. Instead of each individual thread being a sticky (oh the clutter!), if we all determine it should be included, will be a link in an organized list. Much easier to look into and navigate versus having, say, 10 threads suddenly stuck on one board.
Re: What do YOU think should be stickied?
Oh, I'm thinking of just making a single post with links to the threads, not stickying each important thread separately. You're right, we'd probably have about a page of stickies then, and that'd be annoying.

I like the idea of a sub-board for ongoing threads. :)
Re: What do YOU think should be stickied?
Any method of organization is fine. I just think they need to be out of the way yet accessible. Good times.
Re: What do YOU think should be stickied?
I think it would be good to have a big master-post of "If you want your hair typed, post here". The first post should include a description of Fia's hairtyping system and how to correctly prep your hair for a hairtyping photograph (i.e., no manipulation when drying in particular).
It would have several benefits:
1) Newbies will learn about hairtyping early on and will learn how to do it properly
2) The boards won't fill up with hairtyping posts, as they sometimes do
3) Newbies (and older members) can refer back to all the hairtyping decisions made before, to help them learn what each hairtype looks like.
Re: What do YOU think should be stickied?
I know I'm the poster child of evil my opinions mean squat why not close out all old threads and archive them. It's a suggestion. Not a bright one look at the source that spoke it.
Re: What do YOU think should be stickied?
I think the different washing methods threads (CO, WO, NW) would be good stickies. I know I was very interested in those when I first came here.
Re: What do YOU think should be stickied?
I really like the idea of creating subforums, and then putting 2-3 stickies at the top of each forum
- Growing - has all the "___ to ____" threads
- Washing - has the CO, WO, CWC threads
- Styles - has all the "Show me your bun/braid/ribbon" threads
- NEW? START HERE! - hair typing thread stickied
- Toys
But if you just want to create one post with list in it, then those topics would be my vote for being in the lsit.
