Nowadays, me. Kinda badly, but I manage.
I don't want to cut my own, as I am not trained + I am too clumsy and the times I have done it, it has not turned out right. I just give a very clear instruction as to what I want when I go to the salon: blunt hem, no fancy stuff.... and that I am saving for very long hair. I have found that they are as careful as me in not wanting to cut too much, and not cutting without asking me and warning me about how much they will cut. I had a really nice hairdresser the last time I went. She completely understood and even asked me if she was allowed to use a straightening iron before cutting my hair, to which I replied, stuttering: "well... if you have to.....", she understood that meant "Don't touch my hair with that!!!" in my I-don't-want-to-offend language and refrained ;-)
She also said she adiviced people to not put their hair in a pony tail and that she noticed I didn't have pony tail damage. Just sharing my good experience with a hair dresser that seemed to understand the whole long-hair thing.
I self trim. But it can happen that I ask my SO to check if everything is alright and to even it up if it isn't.
My SO trims my ends and I also self-trim my bangs.
Haven't been to a salon in years... :scissors:
Coming up on 2 years of no trims, and 2.5 years since the last big cut. I guess eventually, self trim or see if my wife will help
But until then
BRING ON THE CHEESE!
My pattern my entire adult life has been: either ignore hair for a year, or self trim for a year or 2, then go to a salon to get it cleaned up. Either a few inches, fix the layers, or a trim. I always flip flop between cutting myself and going to a salon, and never the same one twice
It used to be my mom, rarely salon. Now I don’t plan to trim ever.
The last time I had a beautician trim my hair, she did a terrible job and charged me $25. The right side was noticeably longer than the left. I came home, searched YouTube, learned about the babushka method, and trimmed my hair. I doubt I'll ever let anyone touch my hair, again.
I go to a salon.
My wonderful daughter-in-law cuts my hair.
