Has anyone noticed that the chandon makes their hair darker? I'd like to try it, but I don't really want to darken my hair.
Oh, thank you.
This colour is my own, I have some old faded hennatouch on lower third.
Maybe the oils and herbs have given a nice tone, but I can't see any difference myself, besides that the ends are darker since I started to moisture and oil them (they were slightly lighter before, due to dryness).
I have a redhaired brother and a redhaired son, so maybe I have some red tones. Henna always looked rather natural on me. (I hennaed a lot in the 90's and some years ago)
Washing day today.
This time, I GOT THE OIL OUT!!!
A had rather oily hair before washing, so I just Bhringrajed my scalp a bit.
Washing blend:
2 TB aritha
1,5 TB shikakai
1 TB brahmi
½ TB neem
1 TB amla
1 TB molasses + 1 TB honey
1,5 TB methi
This soaked in catnip tea for two hours.
Then I put some yogurt in, to make it "more and looser".
I decided that I would take the catnip rests and put them in to, couldn't hurt I thought. Now catnip leaves and buds are raining from my head ^_^
Well, I took all of the above, put it my DRY hair. Let it stay for one hour. But then I got food, so I waited 15 minutes more, to eat before I rinsed.
Result is CLEAN HAIR!
The only thing I can complain about, is a bit odd dryness on ends.
It do not feel as the dryness one can get from regular shampoo.
It feel more like "thin glass fibers" than the dry fluff one can get from shampoo.
So now I wonder: how can I tell the difference between ordinary dry hair, and hair that is dry due to too acidic product?
I suspect that my dryness is from the acidic amla. Oil does not take away this dryness feeling. Sometimes the dry feeling is gone when hair is dry (from the wash).
This kind of dryness has appeared when I have used acidic stuff (below pH 6).
Anyway, next time I will exclude the amla, maybe use more of methi.
I usually use about 1 ts-1 tb of fenugreek depending on how much of a mix I am making. I'm heavilly oiled right now and will do a 2 TBshikakai/1TB amla/1 TB brahmi pack overnight, I might add 1ts Methi for ease of removal. I'll most likely use catnip tea as an after rinse rather than in the mix because I want to use boiling water. I'll update tomorrow on if there is any build-up or irritation.
has anyone tried using chia seeds instead of fenugreek? they are also very gel like
well since i have chia seeds already i think i will grind some up and use a tablespoon of the ground powder in my next mix - 3 tablespoons of shikakai/ 1 tablespoon chandan/ 1 tablespoon of the ground chia seeds
hopefully this way i can use less of the herbs ;)
oh and my wash yesterday didn't quite take out all of my oil - shikakai/chandan
and i left it for over 2 hours on my head - but i think the problem was that i made it too thick and so wasn't able to actually coat all of my hair and scalp properly
so later on i made a mix with shikakai/amla/chandan and one banana - and left it on for 30 minutes
this definitely got rid of all the oil - but the banana made my hair brittle and tangly and i ended up having to use conditioner to get the rest of the banana out of my hair - sigh
i won't be using banana again
oh - i'm having great difficulty in restraining myself from oiling my hair tonight and trying to wash with my mix again tomorrow...
do you think it would hurt my hair to do it?
i know i should leave my hair alone to rest - but i just enjoy playing with the mixes ;)
hahaha - i thought you said oil build up? wow - so many things can build up on your hair! well i don't have any fenugreek - but it is similar to chia seeds so i will keep my eyes open
i was so shocked at what banana did to my hair!
well, i wish that i could just add an egg yolk to my mix to make it creamy - but i'm afraid all that soaking with egg on my head would leave my hair smelling 'eggy'
same thing with yogurt for me anyway
but i love doing the herbs! i'm glad i started again. when i used to use this method my bf swore that my hair grew after every treatment! it was very short then and now it is BSL
i think that it just looks longer - LOL but the growing would be nice!
i guess i just got lazy and was seduced by using soap bars on my head - easy
